Millions of women and some men have lived through it. Stage 2 is not as bad as it could be. Since it has not gone too far surgery will probably take care of it.

My mom has stage 2 breast cancer also. She was diagnosed in August of this year. She has had a lumpectomy, and 1 round of chemo. She still has 5 rounds of chemo left and then 5 weeks of radiation. She is in her 80's, but she's doing great. Her Dr. says this treatment should prevent the cancer from coming back, at least for 5 or 10 years. Good luck to your mom....and God Bless.

My mother survived stage 3 breast cancer TWICE. She had them 20 years apart. I had stage 1 breast cancer in 2004 and so far have been doing ok. I went through chemotherapy and 36 radiation treatments. Your mom will probably have to take a medicine for 5 years after that to make the odds better that she doesn't get it back.

I am a 3+ year stage II veteran (aka survivor). My 50th birthday was a very special celebration of the milestone birthday and completion of chemo and radiation. With all the advances in chemotherapy treatments now, your mom could get through the holidays without much problems and you will soon all be able to look back at this phase in your lives as just another part of life. If you want someone to talk too, send me an email...

Approximately 2.3 million American women are living with a prior history of breast cancer.

Many many women are alive and well today having come through the treatments for stage two cancer. This is a tough time for the whole family but if you all pull together and support each other then things will work out fine My wife has come through treatments for stage two breast cancer and writes a blog about it - you can read about it below http://www.twinkletwinkles.com
