That's funny, I watch DR Phil and he never has discussed risk factors for cancer, so you are telling a story. You are 27% more likely to get fatter though.
2 :
Estrogen is a major contributor to breast cancer. If you eat more calories that you burn, then you will gain weight. Estrogen levels in your body will increase. You will also be more prone to high blood sugar, high cholesterol, which in turn increases your chances of diabetes, heart disease, and yes, even cancer.
3 :
Breast cancer is one of the most common types of cancer in women. I have never heard however that eating fries is a contributing factor. Here is a link to a fact sheet which talks about all of the possible risk factors and signs: http://www.nowwhat.org.au/info/factsheets/breast-cancer I hope you find this information helpful.
4 :
Their is a carcinogen in fries, called Acrylamide, but it has only been harmful in animals thus far and not in humans

is breast cancer possible at the age of 17

is breast cancer possible at the age of 17?
I have a realy close friend that is only 17 and says she feels a lump in her breast, it does not hurt, and sometimes she feels like it is getting smaller, do u guys think this might be cancer? or might is be just extra tissue?
Cancer - 4 Answers

1 :
While there is a slim possibility, it is highly unlikely. It is more likely that what she is feeling is either normal tissue or a cyst. Having said that, and abnormality in the breast should be checked, just in case. The cases that occur against the ones are the ones that Drs write about in medical journals!
2 :
At that age, most likely a cyst, or just a bit of dense tissue in the breast. Further, if the lump is near the nipple, there is a possibility of an inflamed milk duct, of which there are several surrounding that particular area on the breast. Check for a discharge when the area is compressed or squeezed. Any anomaly within breast tissue should be examined by a medical professional, at any age.
3 :
The chances are close to zero. Fewer than 0.1% of people diagnosed with breast cancer are under 30, and it's almost unheard of in under 25s. The American Cancer Society and other cancer organisations recommend that women begin breast self-examination at the age of 20 (edit - sorry! because of a VERY unfortunate typo, that read 50 for a while), Most breast lumps, even in women over 50 (who are 80% of those diagnosed), aren't cancerous. Many women have naturally lumpy breasts. A cancerous breast lump wouldn't get smaller. So it's extremely unlikely to be cancer. If she's still concerned she could talk her school nurse if she's still at school, or ask her doctor next time she sees him/her
4 :
Very unlikely under 30 and even less so at 17. It is most likely a cyst or inflamed milk duct. She should see a doctor though because it could be an infection

should i get a genetic test if breast cancer runs in my family

should i get a genetic test if breast cancer runs in my family?
both of my aunts from my dads side passed away from breast cancer when they were in their mid 40's im wondering if i should be worried yet im 18 and im also wondering when i should start getting tested?
Cancer - 5 Answers

1 :
Im thinking 20 or now, never can be too carefull.
2 :
The only reason one should start breast cancer screening in their 20’s is if one of their parents had it in their 30s. If you do have one of the rare hereditary breast cancers in your family one of your aunts would have tested positive. In order for you to have inherited it your father must have the gene mutation.
3 :
I am going through the same thought right now. Only one of my surgeons has suggested genetic testing. I am 42, and my father had breast cancer when he was 55. I think you should more concerned that it is from breast cancer in your own family, than that of your aunts from your dad's side.
4 :
Below is the following risk factors for breast cancer : 1. The chance of getting breast cancer goes up as a woman gets older. Most cases of breast cancer occur in women over 60. 2. A woman who had breast cancer in one breast has an increased risk of getting cancer in her other breast. 3. A woman's risk of breast cancer is higher if her mother, sister or daughter had breast cancer. 4. The chance of getting breast cancer after menopause is higher in women who are overweight or obese. 5. Women who are physically inactive throughout life may have an increased risk of breast cancer. Being active may help reduce risk. The best way to deal with breast cancer before being diagnosed and after is to be completely knowledgeable about how dangerous breast cancer. Educating yourself about its symptoms, signs and causes can help you detect it early and also avoid it. With every woman being at the risk of getting this cancer.
5 :
If your family has a defined breast cancer gene abnormality that you do not share, your risk of breast cancer is considered to be equal to that of a woman in the general population: 13% over the course of your lifetime. Men who test negative for BRCA1 and BRCA2 have the same very low risk of developing breast cancer as men in the general population. Whether you are a woman or a man, testing negative also means that you could not have passed the genetic abnormality on to your children. As a woman considered to be at average risk of developing breast cancer, you can follow the screening and lifestyle guidelines recommended for most women: * Practice regular breast self-examination and get annual or semiannual clinical breast exams (depending on your doctor's recommendation). * Have screening mammograms following the current guidelines for women of average risk: a baseline mammogram at age 40 and annual mammograms after age 40. * Maintain a healthy lifestyle: eat a low-fat, well-balanced diet, exercise regularly, keep your weight under control, and minimize your intake of alcohol. These strategies will improve your sense of well-being and general health and possibly lower your breast cancer risk. If your test and your family members’ test results are normal, but many young women in your family (younger than age 50) have been affected by breast cancer, the cancer in your family could be due to an inherited genetic abnormality that has not yet been identified. The same holds true if your results were normal but you were unable to have a family member with cancer tested first. These genetic test results are sometimes called “uninformative” or “inconclusive” results

I'm 19 and have a lump in my breast, could it be breast cancer

I'm 19 and have a lump in my breast, could it be breast cancer?
I was in the shower today and I noticed that I have a lump in my breast. It's not really near the surface, but it's in the upper part of my breast and towards my side a little. It hurts to apply pressure to my breast. My family has no history of breast cancer, that I am aware of. I moved out of state 6 months ago, and have no medical, so this would be a huge inconvenience right now. Is it possible I could have it? Any advice?

It's always possible. You really need to go to a doctor.
2 :
YOU HAVE A THIRD BREAST! CONGRAGULATOINS!
3 :
its a possibility. research breastcancer syndroms =) http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AlLDD3V_dOJgSWJADwsPr7_sy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20090325180721AAPclRs http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Ai8c_Oa029nbluTV_.cGuUzsy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20090325180925AAfmmNo http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AgqLXpLwKghU2Clyoa91gZXsy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20090325181058AA6plDe
4 :

7 :

9 :
go see a doctor. ASAP. better to be safe than sorry.
10 :
The best thing you can do really is to get to a doctor ASAP.
11 :
Its possible and you should get it checked but theres also a possibility its just a cyst.
12 :
IT"S CALLED PUEBERTY,DUH.....(no offence there)
13 :
i think you should go get a mammogram done. it could be possible that it is breast cancer but it could be nothing. but it's good to see whats going on. it could be serious.... good luck!!!!
14 :
it might be breast cancer..go to the doctor ASAP
15 :
Sarah , go to a free clinic , if you must . Do it now . God bless
16 :
Insurance or not, you need to have it checked out by a doctor. Unfortunately, health concerns never happen at a convenient time. But you need to address this with a doctor asap.
17 :
It is possible to have fibrous masses in a breast that are not cancer BUT any mass in your breast needs to be checked out and ASAP. Sorry I know it is not convenient and actually sometimes there are free outreaches for breast cancer detection. Call the local hospital and ask if they have any advice but do not wait to get it looked at. Your life is worth way more than any amount of doctor bills.
18 :
It would be highly unlikely that it's breast cancer at your age, but still, not something to take a gamble on. Call mom and see if she can help pay for a doctor.
19 :
You would never know what it is but visit your doctor RITE AWAY
20 :
You can't be sure on your own, but just to be safe you should go see your doctor as soon as possible. It would be awful if you waited until it was too late. Don't freak out until you see your doctor. Try not to put it off because if something was wrong, waiting could be bad.
21 :
I use to get those, and they come and go. mine were from stress, I was really young. but always get checked by a doctor, better be safe.
22 :
I've had that too, once it was just swelling from hormones (pms) and another time it was lymph nodes because i was sick. Don't stress too much, i suggest you see a doc, but mean while check out this site: http://www.cancerbackup.org.uk/QAs/AboutcancerQAs/AllQAs/related_faqs/QAs/1090 I've heard that the actual cancer lumps your thinking of, are really hard.. like, a frozen pea.. but its still best to talk to your doc.
23 :
Hi Sarah! There is no need to be overly worried about it. Your best option at the moment to avoid guesswork and worry is to go to your family doctor who can refer you to a specialist if needed. I know of several women whose lumps or cysts were not at all malignant. What is important is that a biopsy is made on it to rule out cancer. Biopsies are only done if cancer is suspected. Since your family has no history of breast cancer, your chances are high of not getting it. Observe keenly the changes on your lump and make sure that you go and see your doctor. Don't delay. Breast tenderness is common during certain periods of our menstrual cycle, too. If you haven't lost considerable weight in the last few months, then you'll be fine. Whatever you do, talk to your mom so that you can map out your options and she can contact your doctor for an appointment. My family has a predisposition to cancer. My grandmother died of breast cancer and an aunt. I also lost a brother a few years back. He had an aggressive form of lung cancer which was attributed to his smoking habit. Several relatives have also died of some other forms of cancer. It's like a cloud over our heads so everyone tries to be conscious about living a healthy life.
24 :
I'm in the exact same situation. 22 years old. I've noticed that as well, only my cycle is coming. what I'm going to do is see what happens after it gets here in a few days. but I am strongly considering making my appointment at my college nurse building 2morrow. I've been looking this up and I noticed that there are a lot of people who ask this question and the problem is in almost the exact same spot. mine is the upper part, almost near the armpit but not quite. i can see the difference between the two of my breasts if I look hard enough. But I'ma go ahead and schedule an appointment for tomorrow and see what the doctor tells me, because I'm tired of worrying about. you should do the same. most of the time, it turns out to be nothing. probably a cyst, or that kind of tumor that doesn't count for panic because it's not dangerous. it'll be great if nothing is wrong at all and it's just a duct. but I think I'll go ahead and work my courage and schedule something for tomorrow instead of waiting for my cycle to start. the more I mess with it, the more it gets sore. but mine is only slightly. but it looks like this happens to a bunch of people. only I never e-mailed then to ask them how did it turn out for them. but make your appointment, and I will do the same
25 :
well you said it is hurting which probably means it is not a cancer and mostly infection that lead to abscess formation ,u should try antibiotics for few days if it is gone then no need to worry ,and in case just visit a doctor and he will do a screening test you can read more about breast cancer in here with many useful links http://breastcancerdestroyer.blogspot.com/

when you get breast cancer is it posible to keep your breasts and remove the cancer

when you get breast cancer is it posible to keep your breasts and remove the cancer?
when you get breast cancer is it posible to keep your breasts and remove the cancer? just wanna know

1 :
It depends on the type of breast cancer and the stage of the disease.
2 :
Yes, chemo and radiation. Sometimes that doesn't work though. Getting your breasts removed can be a lot better and prevent spreading.
3 :
The type of surgery depends on the stage of the cancer and the size of the tumour. Breast tumours are sometimes removed by lumpectomy - removal of the lump and surrounding tissue. This surgery means the breast is saved, but the breast will not be the same as before - at the very least it will be scarred, and part of the breast will have been removed. But often it isn't possible to simply remove the tumour. In my case lumpectomy might have been possible, but as well as the tumour I had widespread DCIS, or precancerous cells throughout the breast; so the entire breast was removed. Chemotherapy and radiotherapy are never given instead of surgery; they are given in addition to surgery, though sometimes chemo is given first to shrink the tumour before surgery

15 year old male think I have breast cancer

15 year old male think I have breast cancer?
I was taking a shower when I discovered that when I push down on my right nipple there is a lump. I was looking and it said if nipples go in then you may have breast cancer and mine have always done that. I'm pretty worried... Do I have breast cancer?

1 :
Highly unlikely. Although males can develop breast cancer, it is very rare. You are still in puberty, and your breast tissue will continue to change, and it is not abnormal to feel a lump once in awhile. If you are worried, or if the lump seems to get larger, then see a doctor who will examine it.
2 :
I dont know but ask a parent/friend that may help you? Or definitely go to see a doctor. x
3 :
are they tender you could just be going through puberty were your breasts get sore and firm this might be what you are felling go to your doctor and get it checked out. dont worry about cancer it can be removed. best to see a doctor.
4 :
<small> Most likely not. Just go see a docter just make sure. ^^
5 :
Very doubtful but in an older man, possible. Males can get breast cancer however it's rare. Your to young and this being a woman thing gives you two points against it. I would guess it's a fatty tissue or gland that's over working.
6 :
Go to your Doctor and get it checked out. There are harmless lumps you can get, which is just a fatty collection under the skin, don't feel embarrassed by it.
7 :
As a 15 year old male, your chances of having breast cancer are just about zero. Men do get breast cancer, but fewer than 1% of those diagnosed with breast cancer are male. Most men diagnosed with it are over 60. 80% of all people diagnosed with breastcancer are over 50. It's rare in women under 40, fewer than 0.1% of women diagnosed are under 30, and it's almost unheard of in under 25s. So you can see how unlikely it would be for a teenage male to have breast cancer Most breast lumps in men are a condition called gynaecomastia, a button-like growth under the nipple and areola area that can be felt and is sometimes visible to the naked eye and occasionally it can be quite tender. This increase in the amount of breast tissue is not a tumour and occurs due to changes in hormone balances at times like adolescence - your age in other words. It's not unusual, and it's temporary. This is very likely what you have, but see your doctor for reassurance
8 :
its extremely highly unlikely, first off male breast cancer is rare, breast cancer at 15 is very rare and if you always have had inverted nipples then thats just teh way yours go, if they get inverted out of nowhere then its a problem and usually its just one, the lump could be an abcess, cyst, or maybe your feeling a rib, go see your doctor if your worried but its unlikely.
9 :
@no i do not think so because you are so young for this type of diseases. about your nipple: my nipple had this symptom when i was 18 year old. i think you are growing and slowly become a young man.
10 :
I don;t think you have breast cancer at all. I think it is your developing body. BUT to be on safe side do go to your gp as only he/she will be able to put your mind at rest
