My mother has Triple negative breast cancer and I am concerned that I may have something similar. It feels like a long tubular bump that is very tender to the touch.

Probably not, breast cancer tumours are hard and lump like. This is something completely different

Most likely not, but it's worth being checked out. Best case scenario it's as simple as dry skin. While going to a doctor is the best idea, if you decide not to do so, do a self examination and look for any lumps or discharge. While none of these are a tell tale sign of cancer, they are warning symptoms and would be best if checked by a doctor. I was experiencing some sensitivity which then lead to discharge. When going to a doctor we found out it was just a cyst, so luckily, it's not always cancer. The younger you are, the lower your chances of getting cancer, but you do have some family history. Bottom line, the earlier you get it checked, the better.

Normally a cancerous mass is non tender and painless. However, it would be wise to have your primary care physician due a manual breast exam and take a look at it. Also, since you have breast cancer running in the family you should have your doc teach you how to properly due a self examination and to do it at the same times each month since breast tissue changes due to hormonal regulation/menstrual cycle. All women should learn to do this and also should know every inch of their own breasts like they normally do of their face
