How much alcohol increases your risk for breast cancer

How much alcohol increases your risk for breast cancer?
I read that alcohol increases your risk of breast cancer, but how much do you have to consume to increase your risk of getting it?

Every drink you consume.

As little a half a glass of day of wine can increase a woman's chance of getting breast cancer. And the more alcohol, the more your risk is increased. Here is information from a major study that gave those results. When compared with teetotalers: Women who drank the equivalent of a half glass of wine a day were 6% more likely to develop breast cancer. Women who drank a glass or two a day faced a 21% increased risk of breast cancer. Those who drank more than two drinks a day were 37% more likely to develop breast cancer. However, the risk was much greater in menopausal women: Menopausal women who drank a half glass of wine daily increased their chance of breast cancer by 18%. The elevated risk was also more pronounced for women whose tumor growth was fueled by the hormones estrogen or progesterone -- a group that accounts for about 70% of women with breast cancer. Most people agree occasional drinks are okay, but alcohol on a regular use is not good for breast cancer. The person who said alcohol by itself will not cause breast cancer is flat out wrong. These studies that were done separated out alcohol as a risk factor, INDEPENDENT of other factors such as family history. The reason why it's controversial is drinking red wine can possibly help with heart disease, and heart disease kills a lot more women in the US than breast cancer (although breast cancer still kills tens of thousands a year). So it really depends upon what you are more concerned about. Best is to reduce your other heart disease factors and stay away from alcohol except occasionally socially.

Alchohol will not cause breast cancer by itself, if you have a family history, then dont drink at all, if you smoke, have a family history and drink..well go on and get measured for a prosthetic breast
