No. You detect breast cancer if you find a lump or bump in your breast. Maybe take a visit to te doctor to check. Because im no doc. Breast cancer can easily be removed, so dont sweat.
2 :
I'm not positive but I don't think thats the case. I've have the same thing for years (i'm a curious one) and I feel fine. P.S. (web md) The nipple is in the center of a darker area of skin called the areola. The areola contains small glands, called Montgomery glands, which lubricate the nipple during breast-feeding. They may also hold the fluid that you're talking about when you aren't pregnant. Even virgins usually have fluid that can be squeezed out of the glands.
3 :
"Unusual discharge from the nipple that may be clear, bloody, or another color. It's usually caused by benign conditions but could be due to cancer in some cases." According to WebMD, yes, your symptoms are similar to breast cancer. Your better off getting checked out by a doctor.
4 :
mc kenzie said it is "easily removed". I disagree about breast cancer being easy to defeat. If removing your breasts, going through 20+ weeks of chemotherapy, plus radiation is what she considers easy, I don't buy it. Chemotherapy kills cells in your body and causes sickness and nerve damage. One ends up losing their hair, and possibly their breasts. If it is not caught early it travels in the body and spreads to other locations. Easy....don't believe it for one second.

Can anyone who has had chemo or breast cancer answer this please

Can anyone who has had chemo or breast cancer answer this please ?
My best friend has breast cancer and definitely needs chemotherapy ? before they do anything else. they said neoadjunct therapy. I want to be very helpful and supportive of her because she was just divorced and doesnt have alot of family and we been lifelong best friends. I don't even mind doing nurse duties for her but how sick does chemo make woman ? We are both in our 30's and this is sad. I don't know what stage her cancer is yet. She is still in tests for staging.

My boyfriend had chemo, and I know it is very hard. He was so sick, it was horrible. He would have no energy and he would lie in his bed all day long and watch movies. Chemo makes you vomit a lot, lack of energy and it just takes up all your energy. Just be there for her to talk to, and just be a shoulder for her to cry on and I am sure she would appreciate it. Maybe watch a movie with her , something to try and change her mind. best of luck to your friend.

I'm 48 and going through breast cancer and doing just fine. chemo wasn't that bad. it never made me sick. tell her to contact yme.com as it's an organiztion for breast cancer and they can help her through this

how long could you live with breast cancer

how long could you live with breast cancer?
if you lived with breast cancer, would you get all the signs and become ill if you let it progress over the months?

Hello I am not sure what you are really asking here? Are you fearing you have breast cancer that may have progressed and spread? Have you had a diagnosis of breast cancer? It depends on the type of cancer and the severity of it as to how quickly it can progress. As a nurse i have nown people have breast cancer for a few years and others that have become unwell quickly. If you do suspect you have breast cancer then see a GP asap. If you have been diagnosed then maybe ask to speak to a consultant or nurse that specialises in breast cancer. I wish you well xx

Cancer is a slow disease. It is fatal only it reach the stage of four for which it may take minimum ten years.Well managed cancer never progress which is called remittance.A person can live his full life with cancer at the remittance stage.I am 66 living with colon cancer which was detected at my age of 50 .Where as my sister died due to uterus and Brest cancer at the age of 42 due to poor methods of management..Up to third stage ,it will take very long time .It reach very quickly the fourth stage with in few months. Avoid chemo which is carcinogen as per 11th report on carcinogens of Department of Health USA 2005

Baba, you don't have breast cancer. I'm sorry I didn't answer your email; for some reason I couldn't access my email account for a few days. But here's my reply: The chances of breast cancer at 17 are so close to zero that it makes almost no difference. Really, if a 17 year old had breast cancer her case would be written up in medical journals the world over; it would be of HUGE interest to the medical profession. Breast cancer is almost unheard of in under 25s(let alone teens); fewer than 0.1% of all those diagnosed with it are under 30, only 5% are under 40 and most (80%) are over 50. The average age at diagnosis is a little over 60. When I was first diagnosed, I was allocated to the breast care nurse whose special interest was 'breast cancer in younger women'; I was 50 years old. You're worried about a lump - you've asked a couple of other questions about it. Most breast lumps, even in women over 50, aren't breast cancer. Over 80% of breast lumps considered suspicious enough to be biopsied turn out to be benign. Breasts are pretty lumpy things anyway; and if you feel them with your fingers rather than the flat of your hand, you'll almost always find lumps. If you're still at school, talk to your school nurse; she will be used to girls having worries like this and will be able to reassure you that you don't have breast cancer. Or if you're still concerned, see your doctor for reassurance. In answer to your question, breast cancer develops over a long time - years, not months; by the time a lump can be found, it has been developing for some years

Can woman that breast feed get breast cancer

Can woman that breast feed get breast cancer?
My step mom is brest feeding and felt a lump near her breast under her armpit...could it be cancer?

It could be. She should probably get checked out.
2 :
Any woman or man can get breast cancer. Since she is breastfeeding it is likely a blocked duct, mammary infection or a benign cyst. She should get it checked ASAP but there is no reason to think she has cancer until she has been seen by a doctor. My sister gets cysts on her breasts and they have not been cancerous yet and she has had 4 of them.
3 :
Of course women who breastfeed can get breast cancer. So can women who don't. So can men. The lump is probably a benign cyst, but tell her to get a breast exam if she's concerned. Benign cysts are like small calcium deposits that go away by themselves.
4 :
The fact that your stepmother is young enough to have a baby puts her in a low risk group for breast cancer. Most women diagnosed with breast cancer are postmenopausal, with 80% being over 50; only 5% are under 40 and fewer than 0.1% are under 30. Most breast lumps, even in women over 50, aren't cancer; at least 80% of those considered suspicious enough for testing turn out to be benign. As she's breastfeeding it's far more likely that this is hormonal. If it persists, she should speak to her doctor for reassurance
5 :
Yes you can get breast cancer if you're breast feeding but it's less likely. It more than likely is a benign cyst. She can have it checked easily at her doctor's office. He or she can do a needle insertion into the lump and they can tell if it's a cyst or not. Takes just seconds. She could just have blocked ducts too. Under the armpit is less likely too for breast cancer. I found a lump more than 10 years ago in the upper outer quadrant of my right breast. This area is a a common place. I cured myself of breast cancer naturally and turned down chemo, radiation and surgery. I chose to eat a raw food diet and did lots of juicing. I'm still in perfect health today. No sign of breast cancer or any other ailment. Nurse Sue

Question about possibility of breast cancer

Question about possibility of breast cancer?
I am making my mom an appointment tomorrow because everything I have read online freaked me out to death...My mom does not really exercise but recently she worked out for a bit & started dieting & then the next day she developed red spots on her breast & they were more painful and tender than usual but the next day she had her period & the pain kind of went away but the red spots remain & im afraid its the rare form of inflammatory breast cancer has anyone experienced anything like this?

1 :
Starting an exercise program is not normally considered an increased risk factor for any form of cancer. Pain and tenderness of the breasts is common in the week before your period. It is possible that she also caused some injury/strain if her bra was not supportive enough. It is good she is getting this checked out, but I think it is unlikely to be cancer.
2 :
In our observation as holistic practitioner, usually patients with inflammatory breast cancer has very big red swollen lump. The lump causes pain/warmth that she cannot bear. Just remember that inflammatory breast cancer is typical of stage 3B (quite advance), so it doesn't just come out like that. Before reach this stage, usually the lump appear without any pain & then grow slowly/rapidly. From your story, I doubt that this is inflammatory type. Anyway, the doctor will diagnose further. Good luck.
3 :
Red spots are not a symptom of IBC. Let your mom make her own appointments she knows when she needs a doctor and when she doesn̢۪t.
4 :
You are over-reacting and scaring yourself. The presence of a red spots is not indicative of any serious illness and certainly not cancer. Most likely, since your mother just started an exercise routine, she has a mild heat rash. Trapped perspiration against the skin can produce a mild rash. There is nothing to worry about. Your mother has no symptoms of cancer or any other serious illness

How to check for Breast Cancer

How to check for Breast Cancer?
How do you check for breast cancer? What are the signs? I know you can feel a lump, but how do you find this lump? Will it be very obvious if you have a lump in your breast?

1 :
self exams and checking in the mirror. If you feel anything abnormal call your doctor. early detection saves lives.
2 :
Lara, your Q&A shows that you're a teenager of school age. As such there is no need for you to be doing breast self examinations. The American Cancer Society and other cancer organisations recommend that women begin breast self examination at the age of 20. Before that it's pointless; firstly because there are so many hormonal changes that there is no 'normal' - and self examination is about a woman knowing what's normal for her and reporting any changes. And secondly because the chance of breast cancer is almost nil. Breast cancer is almost unheard of in under 25s, and fewer than 0.1% of those diagnosed are under 30. Only 5% are under 40 and 80% are over 50. Any breast changes you notice at your age, including lumps, will almost certainly be normal hormonal activity as your breasts grow and develop
3 :
Self exams are very important. Also, getting checked out by your family doctor and having him order a mammo. If they find reason after the mammo to look into it being cancer they will probably order a biopsy. If they do ask to be tested for the HER2 gene (a gene found related to cancer

If a person is tired alot, could breast cancer be the cause

If a person is tired alot, could breast cancer be the cause?
My girlfriend had a benign tumor removed from her right breast two years ago, and has been feeling tired and weak for about the last year. Two days ago, she was diagnosed with breast cancer and it is moving quickly. We want to know, but cant find any information, whether or not her symptoms could be linked to the breast cancer. She has always eaten healthy, exercised everyday, and is otherwise in good health. Although she does seem to get ill a couple times every year. she realized she was tired and weak, long before she found out she had breast cancer.

probably not shes just overwhelmed
2 :
it can be. but breast cancer doesn't usually have systemic effects unless advanced. her symptoms may also be related to psychological factors, malnutrition, vitamin deficiency. its better to ask your doctor.
3 :
Could be. Ask the Dr. Or have a look on the internet
4 :
You need an oncologist and full body scans with dye and an isotope. If you don't have health insurance call the health department and find someone to help you. Don't wait!
5 :
Yes, tiredness and weakness can be due to the cancer and is most likely due to the cancer. The cancer was probably growing and affecting her body a year ago. Cancer can be growing for a long time before a person finds out about it.
6 :
I'm sorry to hear your girlfriend has breast cancer. No, fatigue isn't a recognised sign or symptom of breast cancer. I recommend these websites to both of you, if you haven't found them already; both are full of information and have forums where she - and you - can talk to others in the same situation.I don't know how I would have got through breast cancer without internet forums: http://www.breastcancer.org http://www.breastcancercare.org.uk Best wishes for your girlfriend's treatment
