Is it true that if you wear a bra while your sleeping it will cause breast cancer

Is it true that if you wear a bra while your sleeping it will cause breast cancer?
I usually wear cotton comfy bras. They don't have the metal thing at the bottom of the bra. So is it true that it will cause breast cancer? I'm 14 and i would like to know. Thanks

no, that is not true. At your age a good idea if your mom is ok with it, is to make an appointment with a gyno, and have a talk with her. She can give you FACTS about what your body is going through, and can put to rest teh myths that teenage girls pass on to each other. Sometimes its easier to get the facts from a doctor instead of your mom, and I know that Planned Parenthood is a good place to go. Its not only a place to talk about sex. The doctors there will talk to you about your body too. good luck!

I sleep with a very comfortable cotton sports bra on (that's not tight at all!) all the time. I can't stand the feeling of "letting the girls loose". I've been doing this since I was 10, i'm 17 now, and I have no cancer. You'll be perfectly fine =)

Oh my gosh, I have never even heard this one. You have nothing to worry about, I also sleep with a cotton bra on night too. Believe me if sleeping with any kind of bra caused cancer, probably alot more woman would breast cancer right now. If you are still worried, then maybe you should just try sleeping without one on. Is there a reason you sleep with one on? I know with me I have to because I just feel naked without one on. Hope this helps :]

What are some ways, as a kid, to raise money for breast cancer?
My mom is doing the 3day walk for breast cancer. She has to raise alot of money so me, my sisters and their two friends are trying to raise the money. We have been pretty successful so far by doing a lemoade stand but are getting bored of that. If you have any advice i would be very thankful! Jess BTW: the kids are ages 13, 9, 9, 9, 11

Where do breast cancer tumors commonly appear?
I am only 16, so I don't THINK this is breast cancer, but for months I have had a tiny abnormal lump on the side of my right breast.. underneath the armpit. It doesn't hurt, and it hasn't gotten any bigger. Is the spot where this lump is a common place for breast cancer tumors to pop up?

Firstly, there is more than one type of cancer that is commonly found in the breast. These different cancers attack different parts of the breast tissue in different ways, so there is no single correct answer to your question. At your age, this is unlikely to be breast cancer, but if it is, the sooner you get it diagnosed and treated, the more chance you have of seeing your grandchildren! Go to your Dr and get it checked. 9 out 10 breast lumps are not cancer. It is better to be safe than sorry on this one!

I know that I have/had a lot of cists in my breasts and I have also been diagnosed with breast cancer. I still have one breast and I cannot tell any difference. If you are concerned, please, please go to the Dr. They can come up anywhere. I had a actual lump in my left breast near the nipple but many many masses in that same breast

No.. that is not how cancer is formed. But I can tell you that it'd hurt a lot. It's just like how I can punch a guy in the balls reallly hard but the guy won't get testicular cancer, but his balls would hurt like mad.

No, you cannot. Breast cancer, like all other cancers, happens when normal cells change so that they grow in an uncontrolled way. This uncontrolled growth causes a tumour to form. Punching, pinching etc will not cause this process to start. where do lumps from breast cancer normally occur?
My mother has had a masectomy 2 months ago , and still undergoing cancer treatments. I dont want to scare her just yet, but I have a huge lump,possiable a little lump connected (hard to tell) under neath,below my nipple and up under my breast.I know I need to go to the Dr. but I want to get through hers first.I hear most womens cancer or lump is form on their side of their breast, is that true ?

the majority of tumors occur around the nipple and in the upper outer quadrant (known as the tail of spence). EDIT: when it comes to breast cancer, genetics (for once) plays an extremely minor role.

If you think of the breast in 4 quarters then it is most common to get a lump in the upper outside of the breast. GO TO YOUR DOCTOR NOW- it is probably nothing but a cyst or a blocked milk duct but you should never delay in getting it checked. Don't delay your diagnosis and see your doctor asap. You cannot assess yourself whether or not the lump you have is malignant (cancerous). You should not scare her unless a dr. tells you it's cancer. But you should see your dr. right away. BTW, the fact that you have a first degree relative (your mom) with cancer increases the risk that you have/will have breast cancer.

can you really get breast cancer from sleeping in a bra?
Some of my friends think that it is weird that I normally sleep with a bra on. I do not think that it is uncomfortable so I never saw what the problem was. Then they started to tell me that wearing a bra to bed can increase your risk of developing breast cancer. Is this really true? Also I am only 16 years old so I am not done growing. Is it more likely that I can develop breast cancer from sleeping with my bra on because I am still developing?

Total bullsh!t. Wear a bra from birth to age 90 (24 hours a day except when washing) and your chances of breast cancer are no greater than another woman who's never worn a bra in her life. Do what's *comfortable* for you... not what stupid myths tell you.

no, it's not true. i like wearing a bra to bed too. i'll wear it for about two weeks and then i'll take it off for a night. i'm not sure why i do this, it's just comfortable. my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer almost to years ago. my mom asked about 23807875 questions as to how she got it. she came up with the most ridiculous possibilities as to how it happened. one of her questions was because she would wear a bra to bed. the doctor said that wearing a bra to bed is just a myth. so no worries. you'll be fine. just a little uncomfortable by the bra sometimes.

Wearing a bra to bed has no adverse side effects but it is good to let the "girls" breathe every once in a while. There are many factors that cause breast cancer with heredity being a big factor but wearing a bra to bed has nothing to do with your risk for developing breast cancer. In my personal opinion though, if you do wear a bra to bed, make sure its not one that's expensive because it will wear the bra out faster but the plus to wearing a bra is it helps delay future sagging.

Sleeping in a bra does not affect growth or cause breast cancer. breast cancer is caused by cells manipulating them selves. and i sleep in a bra every night! i am 16. :)
