My mom was diagnosed in October with stage 4 hermonal breast Cancer. It is cuurrently crippling her and I would really like to know how long I have left with her.

The only person who can give you an accurate estimate if the cancer is in fact terminal is your mother's doctor.

Nobody can really say, it depends upon many factors one which is how much does she desire to fight it. A friend has 4 colon cancer and has successfully fought it for the last eight years (almost unheard of) but it has been a very hard mental and physical battle. She had undergone many various chemotherapies, surgeries, and radiation treatments to most of her organs. It had gone into her bone, and other places and is now back to her colon. But here is a difference for her, she had a daughter marry this year and has a grandchild next year, so she WANTS to be around for these events. It is her new life, she knows what the beast is like and is taking it by the horns. Somebody else not as strong may not want to battle it like she has. So, nobody can say she has so many months or years left ahead of her. If she wants to fight she could live a longer life, look at Patrick Swayze, he had a cancer that most people don't live longer than 6 months and he lasted 20 months. So, it is up to the person.

Stage 4 is the last stage there is, and being in pain is the worst sign there is. It's a very bad sign. I have stage 4 breast cancer, but am not at the painful stage yet. But everyone is individual. If you want to know, ask her doctor for his honest opinion.

No one can accurately answer your question, not even your mother's doctor. Patients with stage 4 breast cancer may survive for many months or even a year, if they respond well to treatment. Chemotherapy and radiation may slow the spread of their cancer. However, many patients do not respond to treatment and decline rapidly. There is no way to tell. Sorry for your family's difficulties
