3 :
theres no way to prevent it. maybe you could reduce the risk. im sure someone will give u a better answer but i suggest you say a short prayer each night before bed. it wouldnt do any harm. im not a bible basher by the way lol
4 :
Not too much. I was a vegetarian for 20 plus years and my sister was a meat-eater. We both got breast cancer, so sometimes it might be genetic or an unknown exposure to a carcinogen somewhere along the way. You can have genetic testing done, but that doesn't really say you will or will not get cancer...just a predisposition to cancer. Just have regular gynecological exams and mamograms at the proper recommended intervals and maybe do breast self-exams monthly also to feel for lumps. P.S. The ten steps mentioned above couldn't hurt, esp keeping your weight down and eating healthy. Soy products are a big question mark however, with them being considered as having "plant estrogens" that may mimic estrogen...might have to avoid them if you get a breast cancer that is estrogen dependent upon growth.
5 :
stay away from caffeine, especially coffee. also avoid greasy and fried foods. do monthly self inspection and don't forget to check under arms for lumps. good luck!
6 :
Drink lots of water. Eat tomatoes and other fruits and veggies. Drink lots of milk and natural fruit juices. Exercise regularly. :)
7 :
The best way to fight cancer is not always to prevent it, as there are too many uncontrollable risk factors, but early detection. Early self breast exams monthly are the best tools to detect abnormalities and fight them early. Then, if cancer occurs, you have a much better chance of avoiding negative outcomes.
8 :
i don't think that there's anything u can do to prevent breasts cancer but testing and going to the dr every 6 months,if you do it,even if you got it,you can get rid of it,cuz it's easier to treat at first, but try to not thinking about it much, live your life and don't be worry your whole life just for a chance of getting cancer, let your dr check it,don't worry
9 :
do not smoke
10 :
You now know that breast cancer runs to your family, so, you're prone to acquire such disease. The only thing you can do is have a balance and healthy lifestyle. Exercise everyday. Eat Healthy foods everyday. Avoid foods that are rich in LDL (Low-Density Lipoprotein). Have a good rest everyday. Don't do strenous activities that MUCH.
11 :
self breast exam at least once a month. they say a good time to do it is in the shower.
12 :
Cancers runs in families yes, but you may not get the same type of cancer. 1. Always do a monthly self-breast exam. If you find any lumps or hard pea sized things then get it checked. 2. Eat healthy and exercise at least 4 to 5 times a week for at least 20 minutes. Consider organic foods. Avoids ones injected with human growth hormones. 3. Avoid chemicals that may be toxic. Watch the ingredients on household cleansers. Avoid other toxins like mold. 4. Avoid smokers. 5. Get your yearly pap smear and annual exam to avoid cervical cancer. 6. Wear sunscreen. If you can afford to get an early mammogram then do so. I had my first one in my early 30's and they found something. That's all you can do is make healthy decisions and maintain a positive attitude and healthy immune system.
13 :
Not much. Nobody knows what causes breast cancer, so advice on how to prevent it is difficult to give. Are you sure it runs in your family? Hereditary breast cancer is rare - only 5-10% of cases are hereditary. Have family members actually been tested and found to have one of the known faulty genes responsible for breast cancer, BRCA1 or BRCA2? If not, you are probably guessing when you say it runs in your family; having family members who have had breast cancer is not the same as having hereditary breast cancer in your family. If one of your parents carries one of the faulty genes, you have a 50% chance of inheriting it (if they don't, you won't). If they do, talk to your doctor about being tested for the gene yourself in the future. Some people who carry a faulty BRCA gene opt for surgery to reduce their chances of getting breast cancer. Assuming that you don't carry one of the genes, there are a few things you can do to avoid known risk factors, though none of them guarantee you won't get breast cancer. Regularly drinking more than one unit of alcohol per day slightly increases the risk of breast cancer, so you could limit your intake. Being overweight is a recognised risk factor, especially after the menopause, so maintaining a healthy weight is a good idea. Having your children young and breastfeeding them lowers the risk of breast cancer. The American Cancer Society and other cancer organisations recommend that women start breast self-examination at the age of 20; the purpose is to become familiar with how your breasts normally are and report changes to your doctor Someone has mentioned smoking; of course it's a good idea not to smoke, and smoking does increase your risk of several cancers, but it's not a risk factor for breast cancer. And of course people have mentioned diet. A healthy diet is always a good idea, but there are no foods proven to prevent or reduce the risk of breast cancer. I once thought my healthy, largely organic vegan diet, coupled with the facts that I have never smoked and I exercised regularly, would protect me against cancer, but I got breast cancer. Being female is the biggest risk factor for breast cancer and getting older is the second biggest. Unless of course you count sheer bad luck.
14 :
Perform regular self-exams once a month or biweekly, as instructed by a doctor. It's best to do them right after your period. Have your breasts checked by your OB/GYN at least once a year when you get your Pap. Don't hesitate to see a doctor if you notice any changes. If you can, avoid high-dose oral contraceptives. If you are on the pill, mention your family risk to your doctor, so that he can prescribe an appropriate pill. If you ever have children, breastfeeding is also suspected to lower the risk. There's no conclusive evidence, but it definitely can't harm you, and it's great for the child. Eating healthy and working out do not prevent cancer directly, but they improve your overall health and make you tolerate medical procedures and therapy better.
15 :
There are a lot of environmental factors that can cause or contribute to causing cancer--poor diet, the cancer rate where you live, pollution levels, even drinking and smoking can contribute, stress, and probably many more--as well as heredity. The basic things you can do are eat a healthy diet (try to stay away from the nasty additives and preservatives); exercise regularly; get plenty of sleep; try to avoid stress; surround yourself with positive, supportive, encouraging people; forgive; love yourself; interact with children on a regular basis so you can see life through their eyes; live your life in such a way that you're not carrying a lot of emotional baggage or regrets. It's good that you want to take preventive measures now, but don't obsess about it because it can consume you. Sometimes the things we work so hard to avoid we bring on ourselves. Example: On a Mexico mission trip the guy in charge had said that one kid did everything possible to avoid getting the water in his mouth. He used bottled water to brush his teeth. He even put duct tape over his mouth when he took a shower. Guess what all that worrying amounted to? He ended up getting really sick anyway. Make wise choices, keep up with new research, go for regular checkups if cancer runs in your family, do breast self exams, and don't get yourself freaked out about it. It's in our weaknesses that we can have faith in God.
16 :
I would recommend getting thermography in your early 20's. Thermography is thermal imaging, no harmful radiation, no compression, completley safe. Best of all it's TEN YEARS earlier detection than mammography. It takes 8-10 years for a tumor to grow, and thermography will detect it at it's absolute earliest stages. Go to: www.thermographyfirst.com and EDUCATE yourself!

does storing your mobile in your bra give your breast cancer

does storing your mobile in your bra give your breast cancer?
I know it may be a bit stupid but a friend told me that the radiation emmitted by the phone could give you breast cancer?

your kidding, right?
2 :
This is definately a myth. My ex girlfriend was also convinced that setting your laptop on your lap would kill your ovaries and give you ovarian cancer. This is definately not true. I'm sitting right now with my laptop on my lap, and my phone in my cleavage, and i'm fit as a fiddle. Definately a myth.
3 :
I'd say it CAN lead to breast cancer, but it's not absolute. I'm no expert, but I'd think if your phone gives off radiation and ur constantly storing it that close to your breast, the (constant exposure to ) radiation can induce your breast cells acquire a mutation in their growth pathway. Now if these mutated cells continue to grow at a faster rate than your normal cells and spread, then that's cancer right there. However, I think the likelihood of getting cancer from storing ur cell there once in a while is slim, though it is possible. Here's an analogy: Too much sun exposure/ tanning can cause skin cancer: you're constantly overexposing your skin to harmful UV radiation which can induce harmful mutations in skin cells to become cancer cells. However, your chances of getting skin cancer from UV radiation if you only spend a couple minutes in the sun daily are less, and pretty much zero if you spend all your time indoors (or work the night shift).
4 :
I recon if they prove it can give u brain tumors then if you store it down your bra it would give u breast cancer
5 :
Can any one convert me to become a mobile phone
6 :
No. You will not find mobile phones listed as a breast cancer risk factor by any responsible breast cancer organisation, website or charity. No link between mobile/cell phones and any type of cancer has been proven
7 :
Don't take any financial advice from that friend!
8 :
it is not proven than mobiles cause any kind of cancers till now ,there is a lot of argue about that but you should not worry about you can read more about breast cancer in here with many useful links http://breastcancerdestroyer.blogspot.com/

hi you can found yor solution about breast cancer in http://symptomsofbreastcancersecret.blogspot.com/ thx before

Why did breast cancer death rate decline after 1986 but prostate cancer death rate declined after 1994

Why did breast cancer death rate decline after 1986 but prostate cancer death rate declined after 1994?
Did they work harder so more women would survive breast cancer?? Didn't they work hard at all to decrease the prostate cancer death rate??

Look on TV. You will probably see like 10 commercials for breast cancer if you watch for a few hours. You might see one that briefly mentions that it helps prostate health (but along with other things) if you watch TV for a whole 24 hours
2 :
The reason that the death rate initially rose for prostate cancer, after 1986, was that that was when PSA testing was introduced and became widely available (1986-1988). That led to a higher incidence of the disease (it was found more). So there were more death certificates with prostate cancer as the cause, because the doctors easily knew the deceased had it. In some cases, the man didn't even die from prostate cancer, but since he had been screened and diagnosed, that went down as cause of death. Or, as the National Cancer Institute puts it: "Cause-of-death misclassification has also been studied as a possible explanation for changes in prostate cancer mortality. A relatively fixed rate was found at which individuals who have been diagnosed with prostate cancer are mislabeled as dying from prostate cancer. As such, the substantial increase in prostate cancer diagnoses in the late 1980s and early 1990s would then explain the increased rate of prostate cancer death during those years. As the rate of prostate cancer diagnosis fell in the early 1990s, this reduced rate of mislabeling death due to prostate cancer would fall, as would the overall rate of prostate cancer death" http://www.cancer.gov/cancertopics/pdq/screening/prostate/HealthProfessional/allpages You are mistaken if you think that statistics have improved for breast cancer patients more than prostate cancer patients. According to the American Cancer Society: For men diagnosed 1975-77, the 5 year survival rate for prostate cancer was 69%. 10 years later, it was 76%, and by the 1996-2004 time period it was 99%. There were increases and decreases in the survival rate during those years, but the survival rate has been increasing steadily since 2001. For breast cancer, in 1975-77, the 5 year survival rate was a little better than for prostate: 75%. Ten years later, it had improved only a bit, to 79%. And by the 1996-2004 time period, it fell significantly behind that of prostate cancer, at 89%. So over about 30 years, we prostate cancer patients went from a 69% survival rate to 99%, while women went from 75% to 89%

Are these beginning symptoms of breast cancer

Are these beginning symptoms of breast cancer?
I'm 18 yeasr old and i don't have a history of breast cancer in my family and a few months ago i discovered a pretty large lump in my breast, maybe a little bigger than a quarter and for the past couple weeks, the breast with the lump in it has itched like crazy... it started just around my nipple and now its all over. Is there any reason to be concerned? I'm pretty scared. any answers will help thank you.

It could be that a cyst developed and is causing this, I remember having one in my neck and it itched like crazy. I would see a doctor so that you get it taken care of right away and not cause yourself more stress than you are experiencing and it would solve the problem. I would say no, it is not cancer. Breast cancer is a disease of aging in women and usually mammograms are recommended at age 40 unless there is a history of cancer in the family. There have been cases of breast cancer earlier but they are extremely rare in the teens. Dave
3 :
Breast cancer is almost unheard of in women under 25, and fewer than 0.1% of those diagnosed with it are under 30. Most breast lumps, even in women over 50 (who make up 80% of those diagnosed) are not cancer; around 80% of breast lumps investigated are benign. See your doctor about the itching; but it's extremely unlikely that you have to worry about breast cancer
4 :
The good thing is that you do not have breast cancer history in you family but you should just in case visit doctor to be on the safe side, early detection is in many cases key to recovery... http://www.secretsofhealthylife.com/2010/02/facts-about-breast-cancer.html

An almost 14 year old girl with breast cancer

An almost 14 year old girl with breast cancer?
Well I'm almost 14 and I do the breast self-examination in the shower 2-3 times a week and I've noticed tiny lumps around my aureoles. Does this mean I have breast cancer? Or is it just a sign of growing up? I'm starting to get really worried.

consult with your familiar doctor.
2 :
ignore it, what's the worst that can happen?
3 :
Those are sign of growing up and nothing to be worried about. Breast cancer in such young patients in in existent.
4 :
If you're talking about what I think you are honey then they are just a natural part of growing up however save yourself the worry if it is troubling you and see your local doctor.
5 :
What you describe is perfectly normal. And the chances of breast cancer at your age are close to zero. Breast cancer is almost unheard of in under 25s, and fewer than 0.1% of those diagnosed are under 30. Only 5% are under 40 and 80% are over 50. When I was diagnosed with breast cancer I was classed as 'young'; I was 50. The American Cancer Society and other cancer organisations recommend that women begin breast self examination at the age of 20. Before that it's pointless; firstly because there are so many hormonal changes that there is no 'normal' - and self examination is about a woman knowing what's normal for her and reporting any changes. And secondly because the chance of breast cancer is almost nil. Stop worrying yourself silly by doing breast self-exams; even those old enough for self-examination to be useful are only recommended to do them once a month. If you're still concerned, talk to your mother about this; If you're not comfortable doing that, talk to your school nurse; she will be used to girls having worries like this and will be able to reassure you

What types of things would you write/what pictures would you put on a SIMPLE ad for breast cancer awareness?
I have to make an ad for school on breast cancer awareness. What types of things would you put on it? Please remember, this is supposed to be simple. Specific details on the disease aren't needed, I just need a few ideas. Thanks. =D

a picture of george w bush with the words [ you watch out for this BOOB so why not your own]
2 :
The pink ribbon is the international symbol for awareness and then I think a great thing would be a small typed "self exam procedure" and then one last thing would be: go to google and then google breast cancer images. You will find some pretty good pics on there to show images of many different forms of breast cancer. You may want to show some statistics as well. Just some ideas. Make it as simple as you want!
3 :
In acute mastitis, the skin becomes red, warm and oedematous. Similar picture may be seen in acute mastitis carcinomatosa. Presence of engorged veins is commonly seen in large soft fibroadenoma and sarcoma. It is not so routine feature of carcinoma. In carcinoma, there will be dimpling, retractionor puckering, peau d' orange, nodules, fungation. In simple words, certain breast cancer appears like the outer skin of an orange. Please see Google search for more details on Breast cancer and Peau d' orange.
4 :
I agree with Nurse Brandi, definately the PINK RIBBON the symbol for breast cancer. I would also do maybe a theme of different types of women such as teachers, nurses, doctors, police women, cashiers, mothers etc. which symbolizes ANY woman is subject to breast cancer, MEN too. (Just not as common). Maybe just put up a few key phrases like "Early dectection, Mamograms, Self-examination etc" aides in prevention of breast cancer. And BE AWARE.
5 :
A pink ribbon and say:Think Pink:October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month!Join the fight for a cure!!!
6 :
the pink ribbon with a saying that says EARLY DETECTION SAVES LIVE-es you can star early detection once a month at home__a picture of a family that says YES u have alot to life for
7 :
Simple: Breast Cancer use to be a disease of the older generation. Today in 21 century with our high pollution of water air, toxic chemicals from our depletion's for trees to wood products in building homes to accommodate an out of control population along with process food alcohol Breast Cancer is now being found in women as young as 18 yrs old and they are more aggressive and deadly. Women need more then just awareness they need to wake up.
8 :
AmericanVistas dot com website might guide you better
9 :
yahoo or google RESVERATROL and IP6. Both of these are natural and cure breast cancer. Look it up and see what i mean. My friend was given 3 months to live and that was tow years ago. Started taking the stuff after 3rd of 11 chemo and stopped chemo. M. D. Anderson Cancer Center has done much. Als the Chinese and Japanese. You can buy at vitacost.com, oldsouthwinery.com and most health food stores. Not a joke check it out. The more people that know the better. Drug companies not pushing it because it's natural and that is why, but also google "resveratrol preclinical and clinical studies" and "aggrawal resveratrol". He is the doctor. take care. I want to get a tattoo that includes the breast cancer bow

I want to get a tattoo that includes the breast cancer bow?
The girls in my family all want to get the breast cancer sign either on our wrists or at the back of our necks, I would like it as a design going round my wrist ( a bit like a charm bracelet) does anyone know of any decent design sites where I can get some ideas pls? we are in the uk The reason behind the idea is for that reason, I had Pagets of the breast and grade 3 and 2 breast cancer five years ago.

I would suggest going to your tattoo artist and have them draw it up. Then it would be original and unique. In fact a good tattoo artist will have a lot of creativity to put out a design to your specs with no issues....and it will probably look a lot better than anything you could find online or a designed already out there. If you dont have an artist....search portfolios, word of mouth from friends and strangers alike WHO ARE INKED...and talk to the different tattoo artists. I think you will find an artist who may have personal connection to breast cancer and it could transfer to their art. Especially if the artist was connected to someone they knew and/or love who has or has had Breast Cancer. I dont wish it on anyone, but it effects so many people, families and friends alike. The artist ya choose might can come up with something that would make it more personal to you and the girls in your family. And it would be yalls and not just a generic pic or inspired from a generic pic....makes it a bit more special. CONGRATS for being a survivor...and because you went through that, talking to different artist, you may share a common connection or bond because of this horrible disease. Best of Luck & Awesome idea.

i think thats a wonderful thing to do.......................tatoos are bad but when you have a good cause why not
