I'm 18 yeasr old and i don't have a history of breast cancer in my family and a few months ago i discovered a pretty large lump in my breast, maybe a little bigger than a quarter and for the past couple weeks, the breast with the lump in it has itched like crazy... it started just around my nipple and now its all over. Is there any reason to be concerned? I'm pretty scared. any answers will help thank you.

It could be that a cyst developed and is causing this, I remember having one in my neck and it itched like crazy. I would see a doctor so that you get it taken care of right away and not cause yourself more stress than you are experiencing and it would solve the problem. I would say no, it is not cancer. Breast cancer is a disease of aging in women and usually mammograms are recommended at age 40 unless there is a history of cancer in the family. There have been cases of breast cancer earlier but they are extremely rare in the teens. Dave

Breast cancer is almost unheard of in women under 25, and fewer than 0.1% of those diagnosed with it are under 30. Most breast lumps, even in women over 50 (who make up 80% of those diagnosed) are not cancer; around 80% of breast lumps investigated are benign. See your doctor about the itching; but it's extremely unlikely that you have to worry about breast cancer
