How do you know if you have breast cancer?
How do you know if you have breast cancer (I know you have to get tested, but aren't there signs)? And what's the youngest someone could be and still have breast cancer...? Thanks!:)

You have a lump near your nipple. Usually one gets the cancer when s/he is over 40.

Maybe when you start growing boobs, sround that age. i don't really think there is an age limit. -- good luck--

Breast cancer usually occurs in women above 40+, but it can occur in all ages and genders (yes, men can get breast cancer, but it's very very very rare.) Lumps on the breast may indicate breast cancer. If you find one, go to a doctor ASAP to get it checked out. Then you'll get a mammography.

Nobody can self-diagnose breast cancer or any other type of cancer. Even a doctor cannot diagnose it without tests; before I was diagnosed, two doctors who gave me a physical examination - my own GP and a breast cancer specialist at the hospital I was referred to -did not think my lump was cancerous. The biopsy said different. Breast cancer is mainly a disease of ageing; it's almost unheard of in under 25s, fewer than 0.1% of all those diagnosed with it are under 30, only 5% are under 40 and most (80%) are over 50. The average age at diagnosis is a little over 60. I see from your Q&A that you're 14; you don't need to worry about breast cancer, the chances of you having it are just about zero. Changes you notice in your breasts will be normal breast development - that includes lumps, bumps and pain and tenderness. If a 14 year old had breast cancer, her case would make headline news and be written up in medical journals the world over. Talk to your mother if you're concerned; or talk to your school nurse - she will be used to girls having worries like this and will be able to reassure you that you don't have breast cancer. I was classed as a 'younger woman' when I was diagnosed with breast cancer; I was 50
