Im 13 and still going through breast development so I sleep with a bra on because I find my breasts hurt if I dont wear one. My friend told me that sleeping with a bra on can cause breast cancer. Is this true or is she trying to freak me out?

According to the American Cancer Society, there is "no scientific or clinical basis" to an Internet rumor that claims that under-wire bras cause breast cancer. So tell your mom that there is no proof that wearing a bra — night or day — has any link to cancer. Are you having pain in your breasts? Painful breasts are often caused by normal hormonal shifts; many girls feel particularly tender right around the time of their period. But if the pain is consistent, or your back is hurting, mention it to your doctor and ask what might be causing your discomfort. Are you wearing a bra a night because you feel uncomfortable by your developing breasts? Sometimes it seems like they'll never stop growing, or you may feel like they're not the "right" (whatever that means) shape and size. It's stressful when your body goes through such rapid changes or growth spurts. no, but you shouldn't sleep with a bra on while you are developing...that's what is causing the pain.

your friend is full it. Cancer happens when cells mutate and over grow. This is caused by DNA, free radicals, radiation exposure, chemicals and carcinogens. Unless your bra contains chemicals, you have a greater chance getting cancer from watching tv than you do from your bra. Think about it, millions of women wear bras, not just while they are sleeping. Yet of those who wear them while they are awake, as apose to sleeping, no correlation is linked to breast cancer.

I've heard that as well. it's supposed to be if the bra is too tight.that it can be tight enough to affect the lymphatic fluid draining properly,causing problems.you don't need to wear a bra for around the house
