Her doctor is better able to answer this question, but either way it is not uncommon for metastatic breast cells to invade or irritate the lungs . . she probably has cancer cells in or growing on the lungs which can cause fluid to build up. Metastatic cancer cells irritate the pleura or lining of the lungs causing the fluid. Cancer is nasty business. Many cancers that have mets to the lungs respond in the same way. Hope her doctors can get this under control quickly.
2 :
Probably the cancer. I was 6 months pregnant and caught a virus then I got bell's palsy. The Dr. said the virus attacks your nerves to cause bell's palsy. He said since my immune system was weaken due to being pregnant that is why the virus was able to do that. Her immune system is definitely weakened, so I assume that is why. I dont think the steroids would cause bell's palsy. In fact they often give steriods to help treat it. However, I can be wrong so you should speak with a medical professional(other than the DR) to elaborate

Is breast cancer during teen years possible

Is breast cancer during teen years possible?
I have a friend who thinks she has breast cancer at 18, is that possible?
Cancer - 12 Answers

very. even males can have it. my advice? PRAY.
2 :
you can get breast cancer at any age and no matter the gender. people are even born with cancer. its just shitty luck. but i would def tell your friend to go get checked out. cause everyone has lumps in their breasts just some are abormal.
3 :
it certainly is... even babies get cancer. If she has a lump, she needs to get it checked immediately, tell her don't waste a day thinkning about it, every day counts. Tell her to get on the phone with the doctor asap. Odds are, it probably ISN'T, but only the doctor can determine if it is or not
4 :
you can have breast cancer from 5 - 105 even a man can, get it treated now b4 its too late! please!
5 :
you can get breast cancer at any age.
6 :
may be it is possible but refering a doctor is good &safe.
7 :
Yes she can have it at the age of 18.She needs to go for a mammogram ASAP so they can see if she has it or not,The faster you catch it the better chance you have at beating this disease! My Husbands aunt and Grandma had breast cancer.
8 :
Possible but highly unlikely. http://www.cancer.org/downloads/STT/BCFF-Final.pdf According to the ACS if your friend is age 20, her chances of developing invasive breast cancer - in the next ten years - is 0.05% or 1 chance in 1837. Breast cancer is predominately found in women age 50 and older. Sure there are younger patients to be found but it would be exceedingly rare at age 18 for your friend to have breast cancer. If she is truly worried about this she should see her Dr for a mammogram.
9 :
yes, my friend just got diagnosed with breast cancer and she is only 19. the cancer center told her that breast cancer is on the rise in teens. also, men can also get it. make sure your pray for her and make her think positive. although chemo/radiation helps, positive thinking does wonders.
10 :
Yes, it is possible . . teens and young adults are the most frequently overlooked age group that can have cancer. She needs to be examined by a doctor . . that is the only way to tell for sure. Young Women and Breast Cancer http://www.youngsurvival.org/young-women-and-bc/ Hopefully this is just a scare . . but she still needs to be seen by a doctor until cancer is ruled out.
11 :
Yes, but it is very rare. Many teens and young ladies have breast lumps. These turn out to almost always be a cyst or a benign tumor called "fibroadenoma" You need an ultrasound. A mammogram will not help at this age and may actually only confuse the issue. Young women's breast (less than 30yo) are typically difficult for the mammogram to penetrate. Therefore, a mass cannot be distinguished from normal tissue. An ultrasound uses sound waves to image. This is the test that will show the typical findings of either a cyst or fibroadenoma. Please get it checked out so that you will have peace of mind.
12 :
It is not impossible, but it is highly unlikely. Breast cancer is a disease mainly associated with ageing - 80% of people diagnosed with it are over 50. It is rare in women in their 20s and extremely rare in a teenager. You don't say why she thinks she has breast cancer, but if she has reason to be concerned she should see a doctor

Is it true that matcha green tea powder can prevent/treat breast cancer

Is it true that matcha green tea powder can prevent/treat breast cancer?
I'm asking because both my mother and sister have battled breast cancer and I want to arm myself with protection. I heard about matcha green tea powder on one of the morning shows.

i doubt it. it certainly can,t hurt.
2 :
Yes, there have been many recent studies proving this because of matcha green tea powder s potent anti-oxidants and other natural components. As a matter of fact, it is being used for numerous health conditions and the results are staggering. If you go to http://www.matchagreenteapowderinfo.com you will be amazed to learn its healing capabilities. Hope this helps!
3 :
I dont know but I copied this from their website - EGCg Studied for Possible Breast Cancer Therapies In a 2008 study conducted by researchers at the University of Mississippi researchers found that consuming EGCG significantly inhibits breast tumor growth in female mice. Researchers believe these findings can help lead to new therapies for the prevention and treatment of breast cancer in women.
4 :
It is not clear if Matcha green tea prevent or treat breast cancer but experts and doctors say taking this tea daily reduces the chance of getting breast cancer. For your morning caffeine fix, Dr. Funk, a herbal medicine specialist, suggests for for taking green tea instead. Coffee doesn't increase your risk of getting cancer, but he explains, "three cups of green tea a day decreases breast cancer risk by half." Specifically, Matcha green tea is said to be the best. Rachel Beller, a nutritional oncology specialist, reveals that Matcha "has ten to fifteen times the antioxidant power as regular green tea that comes in a bag." A splash of citrus can boost the antioxidant levels in your tea as well. "Adding lemon juice to the green tea will enhance the antioxidant power by four times." Ginger, too, is an anti-cancer heavyweight. Spices like turmeric and oregano spruce up bland dishes while they fight-off cancer. "Population studies show that individuals who ingest turmeric on a regular basis have a lower incidence of breast cancer," Beller says, adding that oregano is perfect "sprinkled on roasted vegetables." There is no adverse effect in consuming Matcha green tea and hence I feel it is worth giving a try for this.-
5 :
Simple answer...NO If this were the case, there wouldn't be any need for Dr.'s & people wouldn't have that devastating disease. The best way to arm yourself with protection is to have regular screenings, eat a healthy diet & live a healthy lifestyle. Just because your Mom & Sister have breast cancer, doesn't mean you will. It simply means that you are at higher risk than someone who's Mom or Sister doesn't have it

Is it just me or is all of this breast cancer awareness stuff on facebook getting ridiculous

Is it just me or is all of this breast cancer awareness stuff on facebook getting ridiculous?
Ok so at first it was like ha ha whatever, but now its getting to the point where its not funny and I mean we all know breast cancer is out their, as with any cancer but the constant making of cryptic facebook statuses to raise awareness for it is making it seem trivial? Agree or Disagree?

I think it is a good thing that so many people are showing an interest and they are spreading 'awareness'. And I never thought it was funny, it is totally serious. The statuses just show our support

Go to a doctor ASAP, and if it's cancer you'll have therapy and all that.... Good luck! God Bless!! :) -|-
2 :
It is normal for some young women to have inverted nipples, it isn't always a symptom of breast cancer. Also some women get really tender breasts just before they get their periods.
3 :
From your other questions, you are only 16. At that age your risk of breast cancer is around 1 in 1 million. To get it in both breasts at once is about 1 in 1 million million!!! What you are describing is almost certainly normal hormonal changes. At your age there is no normal to compare to, and inverted nipples are only a possible sign of breast cancer in a mature woman with a history of protruding nipples. Pain is rarely a sign of breast cancer. If concerned talk to your mother, school nurse or family Dr

Should young women be genetically tested for breast cancer in order to more clearly predict a future diagnosis

Should young women be genetically tested for breast cancer in order to more clearly predict a future diagnosis
Genetic testing for breast cancer looks for two mutated genes. Women who have one of these two mutated genes are 60-80% more likely to develop breast cancer in their lives.

yes so that they can plan they furture
2 :
I wish that doctors would test women for this in their teens.
3 :
The only problem with testing for that sort of thing, is insurance companys can refuse to pay for pre-diagnosed conditions. So by testing for it then, people could end up not being covered for treatment later. Something needs to be done about insurance coverage for preventative messures before we adopt that type of screening.
4 :
Well, first there is an insurance issue there. Companies will do whatever they can to get out of paying. Sad, but true. If you prediagnose breast cancer, when it does show up, the insurance is gonna say 'well, you knew this was gonna happen 10 yrs ago, you should have saved your money' and refuse to pay. Also, I dont have the physical reference, but the breast cancer gene only shows up in a small portion of patients. This would lead ppl to say, oh,well I dont have the gene, so I dont need to be checked. To the limits of todays science, this is not true.
5 :
They should. They should also start encouraging younger women to have mammograms.
6 :
YES BECAUSE IN MOST CASES THEY SOON DEVELOP CANCER SO IT IS REALLY IMPORTANT TO GE CHECKED OFTEN....
7 :
It could help you to be aware of what is going on. The one concern I have about doing this is that insurance companies could possibly use this knowledge to not pay for medical care and call it pre-existing. Of course not all insurance companies will do this, however, I do see quite a few unethical insurance companies who want the premiums but find a way to not pay out.
8 :
If you have a significant family history of breast and ovarian cancer, it may be good to get tested for BRCA1 and BRCA2 mutations. It may give you an idea of what sort of preventative measures to take so the individual does not develop cancer, such as removing the ovaries and breasts. It may also let you know if an individual is at risk to passing on the same mutation to their children. PGD-IVF technologies are available to prevent from passing it on to future children. However, check health and life insurance options before you do testing, as others have said.
9 :
The insurance companies want that information so they can refuse to insure them.
10 :
Yes, undoubtedly

your dr would advice you to abort as you would need to go through chemo. if you decide to keep the baby then they would give you very lose doses of chemo. so when baby is born you would not be able to breast feed as they would higher the dosage of the chemo
