Be creative!

ask everyone you know, and try to bring attention to yourself in some way, for the cause. You could make a big sign, and stand on a street corner, that says, "I am walking for the cure, step up and participate" or something like that... bake sales, dances, craft faires, carnivals... there are many good fundraising ideas.
3 :
Here is an excellent national fundraising program. This company creates discount cards for 3-Day Breast Cancer Walk participants throughout the country. Go to http://www.saveandsupportdiscountcard.com and view their sample cards and programs. They provide you with all the tools for a successful fundraiser. The nice thing about this program is they create ready to sell discount fundraising cards for as low as $1 each. You choose the selling price and can earn $19 each on a $20 card raising nearly $2000 with 100 cards sold. They also offer an optional internet page for free..... Good Luck
4 :
It's hard to face it but the people you need to see are the family's of the cancer victims. They have the most at stake.A few families on your side to help you out will make the work more easy to handle and fund raising for causes takes lots of emotion.

is a breast cancer awareness necklace a bad idea for my girlfriend

is a breast cancer awareness necklace a bad idea for my girlfriend?
my girlfriends mom has breast cancer, and i wanted to get her a necklace with a breast cancer ribbon as the charm. Is this a good idea or will it constantly remind her that her mom has cancer?

i think it's great! showing that you giving her your support. you donating money to the cause by buying the necklace..and umm it's pink! what girl doesn't love pink??
2 :
I think it is a great gift. its not really the reminder of the cancer, but the reminder to stay strong through it. plus, any thing you buy like that, the proceeds go to support breast cancer, so, though indirectly, you'll also be supporting her mom.
3 :
She's likely to be constantly reminded of her mother's cancer anyway, so yes, it is a good gift. However, I wouldn't make it a habit of giving cancer-related gifts, and it might be good to follow up a couple weeks later with something just for her, even if it's just a token gift.
4 :
i think it's a bad idea! i would hate to have my friend give me that! (if the money goes to charity just get one for yourself

what's the youngest age you can be diagnosed with breast cancer

what's the youngest age you can be diagnosed with breast cancer?
it's all red around the outside of my nipple, and it hurts when i put pressure on it, how do i know weather it's breast cancer or not?

1 :
only a doctor could tell you but it is very rare to get it at young ages
2 :
In Men, its virtually unheard of under 40. And the vast majority are 60 and over, and overweight.
3 :
The chances of breast cancer at your age are so close to zero that it makes just about no difference. And what you describe are not symptoms of breast cancer anyway. Most women diagnosed with breast cancer are over 50 (80%); it's very rare in women under 40 (5%) and fewer than 0.1% of all those diagnosed with it are under 30. In under 20s it is almost unheard of. Your Q&A shows you're a teenager of school age, so to put things in perspective - 1. If you were diagnosed with breast cancer your case would make news, and would be written up in medical journals the world over - it would be of HUGE interest to the medical profession as very, very few of the world's doctors have seen a teenager with breast cancer. 2. Your chances of being struck by lightning are far greater than your chances of developing breast cancer at your age. Talk to your mother about this; if you aren't comfortable doing that, talk to your school nurse - she will be able to reassure you that you don't have breast cancer. A comment on something said in another answer: most men diagnosed with breast cancer are over 60, and it's not associated with overweight.
4 :
Some symptoms of breast cancer include: Lumps either in the breast, along the chest bone, and in the armpit area. o These lumps do not come and go, but remain and may grow over time.  Unusual change in breast shape or size  Changes in the skin of the breast o Dimpling or puckering o Thickening and discolouration – “orange peel” effect  Redness, swelling and increased warmth  Nipple changes; o Crusting, ulcers or scaling o Inverted nipples – if it is sudden and not your norm o Nipple discharge o Itching of the nipple or breast While these signs and symptoms may be due to other breast conditions, they should be checked by a trained health care professional. Talk to your doctor if you notice any of the above! There is no “normal” as breasts will develop and change over time during various stages of life – puberty, menstruation (monthly period), pregnancy and menopause. As a teenager going through puberty, they may notice the following:  Hair around the nipples  Inverted nipples  Nipple discharge  Sensitivity or discomfort  Swelling, tenderness, increased lumpiness  Stretch marks  Different sized breasts Some of these will disappear over time but some remain. What is “normal” for one person may not be normal for someone else. Everyone should know what is “normal” for them, and know what changes are normal over the course of the month. If something changes which is unexpected, talk to a health care professional.  Women of all ages, sizes and shapes, can develop breast cancer:  The likelihood of developing breast cancer under the age of 30 is low, accounting for only 0.5% of cancers.  The greatest risk for developing breast cancer is being a woman getting older. Women over age 50 account for approximately 80% of breast cancers. I hope that this helps!!!
5 :
There are different types of breast cancer . . the type that is life threatening occurs in older women, there is a type of juvenile breast cancer that can affect children and adolescents. However, you do not describe what would be considered breast cancer . . usually there is no pain at all. Malignant breast cancer in children http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/18498867 Breast cancer in the young is considered very rare, but there is always an exception to every rule . . so people need to be aware that while the risk is small . . it is still there. Our little sweet pea - journal for ten year old diagnosed with invasive ductal breast carcinoma stage IIA. http://www.ourlittlesweetpea.com/
6 :
I heard about a girl in Canada last year at age 13 got breast cancer. However, I tend to think this was just a rumor because nothing ever came of the story. So, I don't believe that one at all. After that, it would be my sister in law who was 33, very rare. Then if it's going to strike, it's usually women in late 50's and up. It starts either during or after menopause. What you are describing is not breast cancer symptoms. Breast cancer does not give outward signs. It's all inside, the most common is ductal cancer. You can have pain with breast cancer but again, that too is not very common. How old are you? If you're a teen, don't worry, In your early 20's, don't worry. Blessings

whats a sign of breast cancer besides a lump

whats a sign of breast cancer besides a lump?
whats a sign of breast cancer besides a lump? and what is the earliest age you can get it?

change in the size, shape or appearance of your breast. discharge from the nipple which can be yellowish-green change in the color or feel of the skin of your breast, areola, or nipple. Redness, peeling or scaling
2 :
if you really think you got it go see a doctor, but some unusual feelings and looks occur too
3 :
First, the age question. Breast cancer is mainly a disease of ageing. 80 per cent of those diagnosed with it are over 50, it;s rare in women under 40 and almost unheard of in under 25s. Every day on here there are posts from teenagers terrified that they have breast cancer because of perfectly normal hormonal activity; the chances of a teenager getting breast cancer are very close to zero. The American Cancer Society recommends that women begin breast self-examination at the age of 20. Breast cancer usually has no symptoms at all in its early stages; the following are the signs and symptoms of possible breast cancer: change in size - one breast may have become noticeably larger or lower nipple change - if it becomes inverted (pulled in) or changes its position or shape rash - on or around the nipple discharge - from one or both nipples puckering or dimpling - around nipple swelling – in your armpit or around your collarbone (from lymph nodes) lump or thickening - that feels different from the rest of the breast tissue - but remember that most breast lumps are not cancerous

Does having larger breast increase the chance of getting breast cancer

Does having larger breast increase the chance of getting breast cancer?
I know its probably a dumb question, but, I have no idea. Do the size of the breasts increase your likelihood of getting cancer?
Cancer - 6 Answers

1 :
well its easier to get hit so i think it increase the chance but the size... i don't think it matters
2 :
No, breast size has nothing to do with it. Women of all shapes and sizes get breast cancer. Breast size and breast cancer are not connected Edit** Here are some links to information about breast cancer and breast size: http://envirocancer.cornell.edu/Factsheet/general/fs42.bodytype.cfm http://cancer.about.com/od/breastcancer/f/breastsize.htm http://www.breastcancer.org/symptoms/testing/faq_screening/small_breasts.jsp And somebody has dragged the issue of deodorants and anti-perspirants into it. No link between cancer and deodorants/anti-perspirants has been proven, and all the evidence strongly suggests there isn't one. The currently widely-held belief that they are linked to breast cancer is mainly down to a hoax email These links give some facts: http://www.breastcancer.org/symptoms/understand_bc/bc_myths/antipersp.jsp http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/cancer-causes/CA00085 http://www.cancerhelp.org.uk/help/default.asp?page=3943
3 :
I really don't think so. There are sceintific studies that indicate that Antiperspirant deodorant blocks the armpit pores which will not allow toxins to escape the body through sweat. These toxins stay in the body and cause things like breast cancer. There are products like deodorant stones which are made from quartz crystal that do not block the armpit pores. They will make u sweat more but they cover up the smell rather than blocking ur pores.
4 :
i dont think it does really anyone can get it the thing to do is exam ur self like 2 every months make sure u dont fell any lumps
5 :
None whatsoever. Eat right, get plenty of exercise, don't use tobacco at all or alcohol to excess, and learn to enjoy the body you are in!
6 :
I don't think the having larger breasts increase the chance of getting breast cancer, but it may be harder to detect. I was diagnosed 18 months ago. My tumor was found on a routine mammogram. Because I'm large and the tumor was deep, it wasn't felt by me, two different drs or the surgeon

No one knows what gives you breast cancer, but you should let the girls breath at night. No need to wear a bra.

no, it doesnt

you should never wear a bra. its hotttttt

It actually can increase your chances. Studies have shown that women who wear bras for more than half the day are at least 25% more like to have breast cancer. Make sure your bra fits (for the record, vicotrias secret bras are the worst for women's health)

7 :
It doesn't directly cause breast cancer, but it can be harmful. I assume you mean wearing underwired bras. You move in your sleep and the wire will definitely be placed into several positions over the night that cut into your very delicate breast tissue. You may not feel it hurt but over time the fairly sharp wire will internally damage your breast tissue which may lead to cysts and other troubles. If you feel the need to be supported then buy a non-underwired bra

How do I noe if I hav e breast Cancer or not? Without goin to the doctor?
Ok i have lumps in my breast my mother says not all lumps are cancer though but i am not sure i am really scared but i dont wanna tell my mother that i think i have breast cancer....I really need to actually know if I do before i tell her i think i do ....How do i noe?

1 :
Get to the doctor fast. There is a good chance it is nothing, but it it is something you def. want to catch it sooner than later. Dont hesitate. You are not going to be able to tell if it is or isnt without a test. Be strong and go to the doc.
2 :
if the lump u feel in ur breast is so huge and hard, then that could be cancer. but better still, see a doctor, to act as soon as possible before it grows into a different thing.
3 :
Go to the doctor!! And stop all this drama crap about needing to "noe" if you have cancer before you tell your mom you do. Grow up and tell your mom in a calm, mature way that you need to go to the doctor. You should be having yearly gyno exams anyway, and your gyno should be checking your breasts for abnormalities at that time.
4 :
The only way to tell is to go to a doctor. If they suspect cancer they will do a biopsy to make sure. Milk glands can sometime swell causing lumps and some women have knotty feeling tissues in their breast all non-cancerous. You might just have a cyst that will probably rupture on its own, but once again only a doctor can tell you for sure.
5 :
You must get to the Doctor immediately, If you dont go and its because if you are scared please don't be because this could be quiet serious, also it depeneds on your age...Lumps could be part of your body growing...But dont just asume this get to the doctors ASAP to make sure your ok and remember that the sooner you catch it the easier it is to get rid of... Best of luck <3 Your in my prayers
6 :
It is not possible for you to know without seeing a doctor.... Your mum is right, its normal to find lumps in the breast but if its particularly defined and hard then you should see a doctor. Even then it maybe benign, not cancerous. The doctor can only tell after tests have been done.
7 :
only the doctor can tell if its cancerous, though can check the lumps by standing in front of mirror then have one arm elevated then the unelevated hand massage your breast in circular inward motion. feel the lumps if it is movable or not, if its movable and soft, then in can be just a cyst. and if its painful. does your lumps have any changes from the previous characteristics of it? if yes, immediately see a doctor. there's no other way to find out by having it check up by doctor and have lab workouts to do
8 :
my advise to you do self breast examination immediately after taking a bath.
9 :
my moms crazy too... just go to the health department in your area and they have to see you... go ASAp!!
10 :
if u dont want to go for a doctor u can get a mri or biopsy done
11 :
You don't know without consulting your doctor. You need a mammography or a scan to tell. Don't delay. I delayed and nearly delayed too long. If diagnosed early breast cancer can be cured quite easily. If you delay it can still be cured but you take a longer road. Take some advice from someone who has been along this path. See your doctor!!!!!!
