Do you know of a support group for partners of people with breast cancer

Do you know of a support group for partners of people with breast cancer?
My partner and I have been together 3 and a half years. Last Tuesday she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Her surgery is Friday. It would be very helpful if I had a group to "talk" to. We are a lesbian couple, in the south. We are also biracial and her family would not appreciate me being there. Anyone have any ideas?

First, I so sorry for her diagnosis. I hope they caught it early. Check with her medical provider for support groups. The American Cancer Society can also help. Do you have a local PFLAG chapter? It's not for cancer, but sometimes just speaking with someone that is GLBT friendly might help. I live in Oklahoma, maybe the biggest "red" state there is, and we have several PFLAG groups state-wide. You can find a local group on PFLAG Nationals website. www.pflag.org Good luck to you both

I run for Life by melissa ethridge. It is an amazing, and inspiring song. I did a dance for an audition to this song, and did really well. I highly recommend this song! :)

Is this a symptom that i have breast cancer?
Ever since i can remember both of my nipples have been pressed into my breast it seems as if they are indented in permanently and i have no nipple almost. i also have some bumps, they kind of look like zits around the nipple. please tell me if these are signs of a type of breast cancer!

It sounds like you have inverted nipples. Not an issue, although it may cause problems with breast feeding. An inverted nipple is only a possible sign of breast cancer when it is a change from what is "normal" for you.

Why doesnt prostate cancer receive equal funding as breast cancer?
I support equality for women in all cases but I think that breast cancer funding should be the same for prostate cancer as for men. An equal amount of men die from prostate cancer than breast cancer. Also if anything men should have more health funding since women live 7 years longer than men. Had it been vice versa the argument would have been valid for women to have more health care which they do even though men die before women.

thats one question i dont have the answer to!!! It should!!! because no matter what illness you suffer from it should have the same funding as anyone elses illness. Weather its from a cold to hypoxie what ever it is it should have the same funding amounts you make a great point...Allie

Ask Susan G. Komen. Honestly, it's because of the end result. Breast cancer is as prevailant in women as prostate cancer is in men, but breast cancer tends to kill many more women than prostate cancer kills men. I personally think that pediatric cancers need much more funding.

Didn't Lance Armstrong have prostate cancer? I'm positive he did. I'm also positive that the funds received from those 'Live Strong' bracelets went to the charity that he set up specifically for prostate cancer. Besides, there is no equality when it comes to cancer. Not everyone contracts it. Not to mention that there are several cancers that aren't advertised. The fact is, we should be more worried about trying to cure it than which charity is receieving more advertisment time and money

What are the symptoms of breast cancer?
I m 22 year old & mother of 2 year boy & he is on breast feed. from last night i m having pain in my left breast , even i touch it. Is this something related to cancer (God forbidden). If not than why i m having this type of pain, This is not a gasteric pain. Nobody has hurt that breast. Somebody help me plz, i m so worry. Also suggest how can i get rid of this pain. I'm sorry but if your in that much pain and you are that scared maybe you need to go and speak to a doctor... It dosent matter what anybody on here says, in the end its what they know or what the have experienced, every person is different, the only way to get a answer and the right answer is to see a doctor.
