what does the breast cancer diagnosis decimal number mean

what does the breast cancer diagnosis decimal number mean?
When receiving a breast cancer diagnosis, there is a decimal number that accompanies, for instance 179.4. I would like to understand the scale and relevance of this number.

The looks like an ICD code. ICD stands for International Classification of Diseases. ICD coding is the official system of assigning codes to diagnoses and procedures associated with hospital utilization in the United States. ICD codes are used for world-wide for morbidity (rate of instances of a disease) and mortality (death rate) statistics. However, ICD codes are most commonly used for insurance billing. When an insurance company receives a bill from your doctor, the ICD codes will be listed, rather the the disease or diagnosis itself. Other groups use ICD codes, as well, like Social Security for awarding disability for certain diagnoses

Put those coins on ebay, put them on auction - you'll be able to retire within 20 minutes of selling them.
2 :
If this is the breast cancer coin circulated by the Canadian Royal Mint, it is not worth very much. 30 MILLION of these coins were released into circulation in April 2006. That is far too many to make them collectible. They're worth about face value

Can you get breast cancer even if no one in your family has never had it

Can you get breast cancer even if no one in your family has never had it?
My husband told me that his mama went to have some tests run the other day. He said she thinks she has breast cancer. I think she has Munchhausen's. No one else in their family has had this. She seems to have one major illness after another.

yes you can still get it its less likely to have it, but you can definitely get it
2 :
Yes you can get breast cancer even if no-one else in the family has it. In fact the majority of cancer patients are the only ones in their family with it. I have a friend with an in-law who's like this, with one serious illness after another and never any proof of it. The whole family just ends up hedging their bets, after all it could be true. Still, you know what happened to the boy who cried wolf. Why don't you ask to see the test results.
3 :
Many women develop breast cancer without any history of the disease in the family, so yes, you can definitely get it even if nobody else in your family has had it. What matters is what the doctor finds, not what mama thinks. If there's evidence for cancer, she has it; if there isn't, she probably doesn't. Even hypochondriacs actually do get sick from time to time.
4 :
Sure it's possible. Cancer runs in your DNA and just does not activate until hormones and such trigger the gene. Family members could have held the gene, except it wasn't activated in their lifetimes. Anything is possible. Never assume you do not have cancer, get it checked out thoroughly to be 100% sure. Wish nothing but the best for your family.
5 :
if no one has "never" had it, that means everyone has had it. so the possibilities are very high.
6 :
Less than 10% of breast cancers are caused by inherited factors so more than 90% have no family history! 80% are in women over 50. Offer to accompany her to her next follow up appointment to give support. This way, you will know just what she is dealing with. If she has breast cancer, she will need someone else to absorb all the info she will be given, if she hasn't you will know, and either way you get brownie points for being a caring daughter in law.
7 :
Below is the following risk factors for breast cancer : 1. The chance of getting breast cancer goes up as a woman gets older. Most cases of breast cancer occur in women over 60. 2. A woman who had breast cancer in one breast has an increased risk of getting cancer in her other breast. 3. A woman's risk of breast cancer is higher if her mother, sister or daughter had breast cancer. 4. The chance of getting breast cancer after menopause is higher in women who are overweight or obese. 5. Women who are physically inactive throughout life may have an increased risk of breast cancer. Being active may help reduce risk

Writing a cause and effect paper on breast cancer

Writing a cause and effect paper on breast cancer?
I am in the process of writing a cause and effect paper on breast cancer with primary focus on the BRCA1 gene as a tumor supressor. I am using detailed information from journal articles but I have no idea how to start or organize my paper. Can someone help me?

You will have to determine which causes or effects you're going to write about. For instance, if there are too many causes for you to deal with in the scope of your essay, you'll have to decide what are the main causes, the ones you have to treat, and then suggest to your reader that there are other, relatively minor, causes outside the scope of your essay. The cause and effect essay can end in a number of ways. It might be enough for your paper to point out causes or effects that people might not have thought of before, or to sort out those causes or effects so that people can grasp them with fresh insight or in a newly organized fashion. On the other hand, your essay might lead to a call for action based on patterns of cause and effect that you have perceived. A cause and effect paper often appears to be structured along the lines of a Process Essay, and the structure can, in fact, be similar. The difference, of course, is that a process essay explains how something works or how something came to be as it is, whereas a cause and effect essay explains why something works as it does or why it came to be what it is

Does breast cancer have any effect on infertility

Does breast cancer have any effect on infertility?
This boy said the other day that his 10th grade sex ed teacher told him that a woman in her 20's or 30's can't conceive a baby if she has breast cancer. Did his teacher give the class wrong info? Because I never heard of this before. Can a breast cancer patient get pregnant? I would think she could, right?

Yes, but if they have undergone radiation treatments then no they cannot. Some women will freeze their eggs at a clinic before undergoing treatment so that later they will be able to have children.
2 :
she told them correct. why she would even bring up cancer i cant figure out, but ok. yes she could get pregnate but the medications she would be on the immunosuppression drugs, she wouldnt be able to carry the baby....not to mention if it had progressed to the chemo stage. isnt i weird how teachers just throw out random info at our kids and we have to sort it out?....good luck and have a nice day

I just heard on the radio that female hormone therapy can increase the risk of breast cancer

I just heard on the radio that female hormone therapy can increase the risk of breast cancer?
Why hasn't this come out before? My mother died from breast cancer 11 years ago. I did my research at that time & refused using this. Doctors were still pushing it at that time. Are the drug companies THAT powerful?
Women's Health - 3 Answers

1 :
Actually, this has been big news in the mass media since the WHI trial was stopped prematurely back in 2001-2002. Both hormone replacement and the birth control pill can increase the risk of breast cancer as well as blood clots, heart disease, and stroke. Doctors should counsel their patients on this, and balance the risk (which is relatively small in younger women) against the potential benefits of treatment. With any medication, it's always a matter of balancing potential risk versus potential benefit.
2 :
The drug companies are powerful, but many women quit using hormones after the trail of 2002 was stopped. Now they found out that quitting reduced the breast cancer (in the US only) by 7%. Most women have to decide for themselves if they are ready to take the risk or not. Women who had a total hysterectomy and suffer from severe hot flashes many times decide that life as such is too difficult and decide to take hormones knowing all the risks. This is my experience anyway.
3 :
Absolutely. This basic gist is: Estrogen causes cells to grow rapidly, and never mature. This is how cancers grow quickly. Progesterone, on the other hand, causes cells to mature and die off. If you balance estrogen with progesterone, you are protecting yourself from female cancers. It has been known since synthetic HRT was introduced that it harmed women. There is NO evidence that estrogen supplementation is beneficial. Makes you sick thinking about what Big Pharma has done to us, doesn't it??? (There's a book you should check out from your local library called "The Greatest Experiment Ever Performed on Women
