Is there a link between strong deodorants and breast cancer

Is there a link between strong deodorants and breast cancer?
My mom said that some strong prescribed deodorants may cause breast cancer. Is this true or is it just a myth?

That is a myth. Get the facts from the breast cancer website and it tells you right there it is not true.

i dont know, but most anti-perspirants contain aluminum-zirconium and aluminum has been known to cause alzheimers. i use Tussy. its hard to find, but all natural. i have tried Toms all natural deordorant and it makes me stink worse. Tussy is the best stuff out there. just get deordorant. its the anti-perspirant that has the bad chemicals. you can find it at most drug stores. mostly only old ladies use it, but im only 29 and i like it

Does breast cancer mass size matter in staging cancer

Does breast cancer mass size matter in staging cancer?
I may have breast cancer, having a biopsy next week. The mass is considered small, 12mm. I had colon cancer three years ago and now this.

I'm going to tell you about a medical doctor, (yes she's a medical doctor) who had a cancerous tumor the size of a grapefruit on her chest that looked absolutely horrible. But she being a doctor sought alternative methods to fighting cancer that the medical profession doesn't want people to know about because they are in ka-hoots with the big pharmacutical companies who sell pills pills and more pills and they don't want to lose the revenue from the sale of those pills because it would put them out of business. Meanwhile people are dying from cancer. How can they ever sleep at night??? Anyway, this woman beat the cancer and it was totally out of her body after she followed a plan that made a lot more sense than just popping pills endlessly. Go here: www.drday.com Praying for you! "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. Acknowledge God in all your ways and He will direct your paths". Prov. 3:5,6 NKJV
2 :
Cancer stage is based on the size of the tumor, whether the cancer is invasive or non-invasive, whether lymph nodes are involved and whether the cancer has spread beyond the breast. The purpose of the staging system is to help organize the different factors and some of the features of the cancer into categories. This helps when diagnosing the most likely outcome of the disease and guides treatment decisions. By staging, your Dr will know the best treatment for you. However, you haven't had the biopsy yet and so this could very well be benign. Fatty tumor can grow into a large mass. That's why a biopsy is ordered. In most cases, it's benign. My tumor was small and invasive and my Dr called it "nasty". From the time I discovered the tumor to the mastectomies, was only 1 week. Talk about fast paced. I didn't have time to think. I hope you're stage 0, which is no cancer. Good luck and God bless

Just be as good of a friend as you can be to her. She will need somebody. Also, a member of my family had breast cancer and ever since I have gone on the breast cancer fundraising walk they have every year in chicago. But really just try to be there for you, because she will need someone to go to either to talk or to take her mind off of it for a while.
2 :
Just give her support and keep her occupy so she doesn't think about it. Keep her busy thinking about other things but cancer.
3 :
It's probably best to stay calm. You don't want yourself bursting out in tears and shock when your best friend is going through much more pain than you. You have to remember that her mother is not the only one who's had breast cancer and there is a cure so there's a very high chance she's going to be absolutely fine. I think your friend needs some support too. Send her muma card and some flowers and give your friend a big hug!

that i can relate to.. two of my bestfriends mothers got breast cancer. one survived and one died. its a horrible thing to go through, i was around 12 when they both were diagnosed. so i was in for a huge shock. really your friend is going to depend on you a whole lot. their family is going through a huge transition. really all you can do is be there. make sure you talk about it, keep yourself up to date wiht details. dont try and "take their mind off it" becuase you can never suceed with that, but take em out make sure tehy continue to enjoy life, and understand that ever moment in life is special, that its amazing to wake up every morning. if your religeous remind them their motheres in your prayers. make sure they know your not going anywhere.. best of luck
5 :
Cheer her up.
6 :
BE YOUR BEST AS A TRUE FRIEND
7 :
Same thing happened to me when I was in high school. The best you can do is be very supportive of your friend and be there when she needs to talk, cry or get angry. It's the best thing you can do, just be there for her.
8 :
don't treat her any different, and try to keep their life normal. they probably feel like everything is falling apart, and nothing is for sure anymore. give her and her family lots of support! maybe make meals for them, because the mom doesnt want to make meals, and they might dine out too much for their liking. if she wants to talk, please don't be afraid to go into detail. but if she doesnt want to talk yet, dont worry about it. let her call the shots about it.
9 :
my mom had breast cancer and my best friend was crying together and also she bought my mom and i something and then like she felt bad but then my mom died but that doesn't matter just talk to Ur best friend then just tell her that she will be OK and stuff don't tell her that it could get whores just tell her everything is OK and just make her feel better just don't talk about it to much but just tell her she will be OK good luck !!!

You sound like a lovely friend to ask that question. My mum was diagnosed with breast cancer on Monday. As a family, we are coping really well. I have, however, found that my friends have been awkward. They have either stopped contacting me or become upset. What I really want is for my friends to be strong for me, if they start to cry then I need to support them! I really want people to listen to me, not offer their opinions - just to listen. So please listen to your friend, be a shoulder for her to cry on. Let her know that you are available any time she needs to tal

What are the signs of breast cancer

What are the signs of breast cancer?

Signs and symptoms Breast cancer showing an inverted nipple, lump, skin dimpling The first noticeable symptom of breast cancer is typically a lump that feels different from the rest of the breast tissue. More than 80% of breast cancer cases are discovered when the woman feels a lump.[14] By the time a breast lump is noticeable, it has probably been growing for years. The earliest breast cancers are detected by a mammogram.[15] Lumps found in lymph nodes located in the armpits[14] can also indicate breast cancer. Indications of breast cancer other than a lump may include changes in breast size or shape, skin dimpling, nipple inversion, or spontaneous single-nipple discharge. Pain ("mastodynia") is an unreliable tool in determining the presence or absence of breast cancer, but may be indicative of other breast health issues.[14][15][16] When breast cancer cells invade the dermal lymphatics—small lymph vessels in the skin of the breast—its presentation can resemble skin inflammation and thus is known as inflammatory breast cancer (IBC). Symptoms of inflammatory breast cancer include pain, swelling, warmth and redness throughout the breast, as well as an orange-peel texture to the skin referred to as peau d'orange.[14] Another reported symptom complex of breast cancer is Paget's disease of the breast. This syndrome presents as eczematoid skin changes such as redness and mild flaking of the nipple skin. As Paget's advances, symptoms may include tingling, itching, increased sensitivity, burning, and pain. There may also be discharge from the nipple. Approximately half of women diagnosed with Paget's also have a lump in the breast.[17] Occasionally, breast cancer presents as metastatic disease, that is, cancer that has spread beyond the original organ. Metastatic breast cancer will cause symptoms that depend on the location of metastasis. Common sites of metastasis include bone, liver, lung and brain.[18] Unexplained weight loss can occasionally herald an occult breast cancer, as can symptoms of fevers or chills. Bone or joint pains can sometimes be manifestations of metastatic breast cancer, as can jaundice or neurological symptoms. These symptoms are "non-specific", meaning they can also be manifestations of many other illnesses.[19] Most symptoms of breast disorder do not turn out to represent underlying breast cancer. Benign breast diseases such as mastitis and fibroadenoma of the breast are more common causes of breast disorder symptoms. The appearance of a new symptom should be taken seriously by both patients and their doctors, because of the possibility of an underlying breast cancer at almost any age.[20] [edit]

Lumps.

signs are several lumps on the breast, its not yet cancer so better go to your doctor and get it checked up..

NippleS? As in both and if so it could be absolutely normal for you, getting ready to go through your period etc. HOWEVER, it could be CANCER and sitting here typing out some query to those who haven't a clue about your medical history is a WASTE of time and possibly life. Make an appt. today and get a mammogram TODAY!

Your other questions show that you're of school age. At your age the chances of breast cancer are so close to zero that it makes almost no difference. You have a greater chance of being struck by lightning than you do of developing breast cancer. And the chances of someone having breast cancer in both breasts (let alone in the same place in each) are even smaller - perhaps as great as getting struck by lightning twice on your way to collect your winnings from the lottery ticket you are too young to have bought. Yes, what you describe is completely normal breast development; you don't need to concern yourself with the symptoms of breast cancer. Breast cancer is almost unheard of in under 25s (let alone young teens), fewer than 0.1% of all those diagnosed with it are under 30 and only 5% are under 40. Most (80%) are over 50. I've had breast cancer, and when I was diagnosed I was allocated to the breast care nurse whose special interest was 'breast cancer and younger women'. Know why? Because I was only 50 - yes, 50 - which is pretty young for breast cancer. Talk to your mother about this; if you don't feel comfortable doing that, talk to your school nurse - she will be used to girls having worries like this and will be able to reassure you that you DON'T have breast cancer.

Some signs and symptoms include:  Lumps either in the breast, along the chest bone, and in the armpit area. o These lumps do not come and go, but remain and may grow over time.  Unusual change in breast shape or size  Changes in the skin of the breast o Dimpling or puckering o Thickening and discolouration – “orange peel” effect  Redness, swelling and increased warmth  Nipple changes; o Crusting, ulcers or scaling o Inverted nipples – if it is sudden and not your norm o Nipple discharge o Itching of the nipple or breast While these signs and symptoms may be due to other breast conditions, they should be checked by a trained health care professional. Talk to your doctor if you notice any of the above! There is no “normal” as breasts will develop and change over time during various stages of life – puberty, menstruation (monthly period), pregnancy and menopause. As a teenager going through puberty, they may notice the following:  Hair around the nipples  Inverted nipples  Nipple discharge  Sensitivity or discomfort  Swelling, tenderness, increased lumpiness  Stretch marks  Different sized breasts Some of these will disappear over time but some remain. What is “normal” for one person may not be normal for someone else. Everyone should know what is “normal” for them, and know what changes are normal over the course of the month. If something changes which is unexpected, talk to a health care professional. I hope that this helps

Designer clothing line that donates much or all of its profits to breast cancer reasearch, awareness, etc

Designer clothing line that donates much or all of its profits to breast cancer reasearch, awareness, etc?
I've seen and heard about a designer clothing line that donates a lot if not all of its proceeds to help fight breast cancer - I'm trying to write a paper about this line, but I can't remember the name. I do remember the logo looked similar to Juicy Couture. This line tries not to promote the fact that they are donating money - the point is to have people buy the close without knowing that they're helping an organization in the process.

Oncologist treating breast cancer treatment without Tamoxifen

Oncologist treating breast cancer treatment without Tamoxifen?
My mother had a lumpectomy and is undergoing radiation therapy. I thought that typically Tamoxifen is prescribed as well for breast cancer treatment, but he is not prescribing that to her. Any idea why this might be? My mother DOES have ER+ breast cancer. Sorry for leaving that out.

Its not required as part of the treatment or otherwise she would be on it.
2 :
Tamoxifen is only used for people with ER+ breast cancer. If your mother's pathology results came back ER- then tamoxifen is of no use to her. Another reason could be that your mother has already been through menopause where another hormone treatment would be used if her cancer was hormone receptive (ER+). ADDED: If your mother is ER+ then maybe she is post menopausal and will be taking another form of hormonal treatment such as Arimidex? Also some oncologists don't like to start their patients on Tamoxifen until after radiotherapy is completed so maybe she will be on it then. Another thing could be that your mother doesn't want to take it. A lot of women refuse to take it because of the possible side effects
