probably her hormones.. ask the doctor next time she goes..

She's either eating out of stress or because of chemo. Is she on chemotherapy?

She's both unusual and very lucky if she feels hungry while suffering from breast cancer. Cancer and cancer treatments often kill the appetite. She needs all the extra energy and nutrition she can get right now while she fights the cancer. Good luck to both of you.

I have breast cancer and am taking chemo presently. Right after I take my treatment, everything tastes like a vat of lard...and that lasts for about a week. When my taste buds come back after that week, I am so hungry - I'm always eating. But, that's good because you have to take the good days when you get them and if it means eating a lot of food - oh well! I think my hunger is from the steroids. The increase your appetite and they give me steroids to counteract the chemo. So, my overly active appetite will probably go away when I finish my chemo (which is 25 days away now!!!!). Let your mom eat - simple pleasures. Good luck.

one reason could be if she has to be on steroids. I have cancer and have to take them and they make me hungry and my face get fat.

Breast cancer in itself should have no real impact on appetite. Breast cancer treatment can and does. Some treatments cause nausea and lessen the appetite, some just make food taste bad/wrong so reduce the appetite, others such as steroids increase the appetite.

Breast cancer itself doesn't cause an increase in (or loss of) appetite. If she's undergoing chemotherapy, the steroids given with the anti nausea meds are very likely to increase appetite. Apart form the first week after my first chemotherapy treatment, I had the appetite of a horse, and craved bland carbohydrate. I put on over 30 pounds during chemotherapy for breast cancer; most people I know who have had chemo put on weight.

Early stage breast cancer would have little no affect on the appetite in most cases. The treatments for breast cancer can often reduce appetite though.

Steroids tend to make the patient hungry, so perhaps it's because of that. It should go away once she finishes Chemo. I hope your mother get's better
