Dear Bill, Melinda promised me she would talk to you about breast cancer.
2 :
How do you know that he doesn’t already fund breast cancer? He donates a lot of money. Do you know how to format a business letter? If not, you’re going to need to learn. I think you should spend more time concentrating on your spelling, punctuation and grammar. The opening sentence will come to you.
3 :
I would start like this: Dear Bill, Your Mother has breast cancer...what do you do? Naturally, your first reaction would be to get her the best doctor money could buy. As most people would have the same first thought...their second thought is...We just can't afford it. And then I would carry it on from there. Be sure to include statistics about breast cancer ie: survival rates with and without treatment, cost of treatment/surgery, and perhaps how many people can't afford health coverage. Hope this helps

This is a very good site that explains about radiation and breast cancer: http://www.cancer.org/docroot/CRI/content/CRI_2_4_4X_Radiation_Therapy_5.asp?sitearea=
2 :
This site gives the whole story of cancer, chemotherapy and treatments for cancer.
3 :
The simple answer: Radiation causes damage to both the normal and cancerous cells. Normal cells have the ability to repair the damage. Cancerous cells do not. When the damaged cancerous cells try to multiply, the cell dies

Suggestions for a Team name for a Breast Cancer walk

Suggestions for a Team name for a Breast Cancer walk?
Hey Everyone :) My family is planning on participating in a Local Breast cancer walk/run and we are trying to figure out a meaningful team name. We are all walking for my aunt (Teresa) as well as for all the other people who are effected by breast cancer. Any suggestions???? Last year we formed a team for one of my other aunts and we called ourselves "Rhonda's Rock"..

" Check yourself " I would design the t-shirt with a (check mark) - UR - self I can't draw this for you here. (I'm not an artist anyway.) It's an awareness message. People often take their health for granted. The key to breast carcinoma is early detection. Find it early = high cure rate. Most of my breast cancer patients - many hundreds of them - found their own breast lumps. The earlier - the better. But this is not a disease of teens. Amazing how many teens on YA are worried about breast cancers. People can be their best doctors. Check themselves. Maintain a normal body weight. Never touch tobacco in any form. Kinda like an apple a day keeps the doctor away. Still true today. So simple.
4 :
you could try Teresa's team. that would be great! god bless hope she gets better
5 :
im looking for team names as well (: out of all of the ones ive seen, i liked "thanks for the mammories"
6 :
I Can-Sur-vivors
7 :
Teresa's Healthy Tittie Committee :D Add a little humor...or maybe this is too much humor for some but I find it amusing and attention grabbing

What happens if you stop taking Tamoxifen (Breast cancer drug) for a week

What happens if you stop taking Tamoxifen (Breast cancer drug) for a week?
Hi all, I am asking this question on behalf of my mother, she had breast cancer, then she had an operation and then radiation so the cancer is all gone (Not sure if that's worded properly), anyhow, she must take tamoxifen to prevent the recurrence of the cancer. We live in San Francisco but we are currently in rural Sabah, Malaysia, you can only get a months worth of the drug (30 days) but we have been here for 25 days and will be here for another 9 days. She currently has 5 pills, and you are supposed to take one each day. Is she in danger if she takes them all for the next 5 days and has a 4 day break? Also, how should she take them? One every other day? Every day until runs out? Etc.. (Also, the original plan to deal with this was that my father would come and meet us and bring with him another month's worth, but he couldn't make it) So please help!!! Thanks a lot, Chris

1 :
Nothing bad will happen. Tamoxifen adds estrogen to the body (which is where the link to uterine cancer comes from - that is one of those rare side effects) as it blocks estrogen in the breast. So the standard of care is to take tamoxifen for 5 years to protect the breast from cancer. Some women opt not to take the drug at all. It also is not a drug like birth control pills where you have to adhere to a cycle or your hormones will get all out of whack.
2 :
Tamoxifen is prescribed if your cancer is hormone receptive. It stops your hormones from reacting with any remaining cancer cells to encourage them to grow! Over the 5 years it is normally prescribed, it lowers your risk of recurrance by about 10% over the 5 year period. Eg, if she has been given a risk of recurrance of say 30%, with out the Tamoxifen this would increase to 40% if she didn't take it at all for the 5 years! By missing a week, the change is about 0.04%, so enjoy the break and stop worrying

why is the nfl so concerned with breast cancer awareness all of a sudden?
I have noticed that the nfl coaches and players are wearing pink breast cancer ribbons on their caps and helmets...i'm just curious as to why the nfl is on the breast cancer awareness bandwagon all of a sudden. can someone please help me out with that? thanx! it's breast cancer awareness month
2 :
The Tom Brady Rule.
3 :
I guess the same reason they are concerned with national latino month.
4 :
go colts
5 :
To promote the league in a more positive light. In the end it all comes down to money and image.
6 :
I'm gonna take a wild guess here but maybe because its Breast Cancer Awareness Month? Also because Tom Brady was complaining that he had to wear colors that don't bring out his true personality.
7 :
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and the officials will mark the occasion by wearing pink ribbons on their caps. Expect to see other pink accessories -- some on the players, some on the coaches -- as the month progresses. This is just an awareness and an act to guide people as a social cause. It is something that must be appreciated

Can women between the ages of 21-28, have breast cancer

Can women between the ages of 21-28, have breast cancer?
I am a 24 year old and am feeling sharp pinching pains on my left breast, as well as a swell. Is this normal for my age range? I'm a bit nervous about this and will speak to my doctor soon. I dont know much about breast cancer at an early age like mine.

Yes, I'm pretty sure they can. :( I'll definitely keep you in my prayers that you don't have it, but you should check with your doctor asap.
2 :
Yes.
3 :
They can, but it is very, very rare indeed. Fewer than 0.1% of all those diagnosed with breast cancer are under 30, and only 5% are under 40, and most (50%) are over 50. And pain is rarely a symptom of breast cancer; most people diagnosed with it have felt no pain. You are doing the right thing seeing your doctor; this will almost certainly put your mind at ease. Good luck

can early breast development lead to breast cancer

can early breast development lead to breast cancer?
I first developed my breast bud when i was like 7 or 8 and then they became noticeable when i was 10 and im like really skinny. Im now 14 a D cup weigh 80 pounds. I know its not genetic coz no one in my family has anything larger than a B cup. Does this mean i can have breast cancer soon?

1 :
No. Relax, early breast development does not cause breast cancer. And breast cancer at your age is very rare. However, there are different things that increase risk of developing breast cancer some day in the distant future, and there are things that decrease risk too. Early breast development means you're at higher than average risk, but that risk is still very low. Being skinny and eating a low fat diet also means that risk is lower. Not smoking or drinking alcohol lowers risk. Keep doing these healthy things and you'll keep your risk lower.
2 :
Breast cancer is typically a genetic disease. It has nothing to do with breast size.
3 :
No breast developement has nothing to do with it. And most breast cancer is not genetically related. However, if you started your period earlier than most of your peers, then you are a slight increase risk for breast cancer. Merely because you have have a longer time in your life to have those hormones in your body. But there are many simple things you can do to decrease your risk as well. Maintain a healthy body weight. Eat fruits and vegetables daily, and breast feed your children for at least 6 months or longer when and if you have children. There are some other things you can do as well.
