What are the chances for survival of a 16 year old (female) with breast cancer

What are the chances for survival of a 16 year old (female) with breast cancer?
Is it even possible for a 16 year old to have breast cancer and if it is what are the survival rates?

theyre are high but if you get maltosis it is almost certainly over for her.
2 :
i think it's pretty high, cause they have so much modern technology...i saw once a 15 year old got it, and they had to take her boobs off...then she had fake ones, but she's really healthy now...i think thats all that really matters
3 :
its rare for a 16 yr old to have breast cancer but survival rates high unless it spreads
4 :
girl all you gotta do is exercise, exercise and exercise but dont kill your self. you should take early morning jogs and eat healthy not fast foods like k.f.c or Burger king and McDonald's but you can have pizza especially the vegetable type.
5 :
Anyone with a breast can get cancer..even a man. Chances are just higher the older you get. Now a days the survival rate of cancer is fantasatically high and cancer is no longer a death sentence. if a 16 year old girl has it..the chances of survival are good as long as the cancer has been found early and has not spread. Those chances are the same for an older woman too.
6 :
Yes it's possible for a 16 year to get breast cancer. The survival rate would most certainly depend on the type, stage of the cancer at the time the diagnosis was made and the response to the treatment(s)
7 :
talk to Cancer Treatment Centers of America. they won't put an expiration date on your life !
8 :
Cancer in younger women tends to be far more aggressive of a cancer than in older women. Breast cancer in younger women tends to be estrogen and progesterone negative which means that there are less treatment options, such as being able to take Tamoxifen. It also can mean that the cancer is growing at a faster rate and spreading quicker than it would with a less aggressive form of breast cancer. With that being said, I would think 16 year old patients with breast cancer probably have a higher rate of death from breast cancer than an older generation of breast cancer patients. This isn't to say that a young cancer patient would definitely have an aggressive form of breast cancer but it is more common than not. I got lucky, as a young breast cancer survivor to not have an aggressive form

Any information on breast cancer skin metastasis

Any information on breast cancer skin metastasis?
Can anyone direct me to site that has information on this? (Breastcancer.org, Breast Cancer Care, Breakthrough Breast Cancer and Susan G Komen do not have this information.) Alternatively, can anyone tell me anything about the appearance of skin mets, and whether it only occurs near the site of the original tumour or can appear on other parts of the body? The limited information I've found so far seems to suggest skin metastasis occurs near the primary tumour or on the upper body. Does it ever occur further away, say on the limbs?

According to the Merck manual: Most skin metastases occur in the region of the breast surgery; scalp metastases also are common. (http://www.merck.com/mmpe/sec18/ch253/ch253e.html) An excerpted page from Cancer Chemotherapy and Pharmacology states: "the site of metastases was the scalp in 13.5% of their breast cancer patients, the face in 22.2%, the neck in 9%, the chest wall in 39%, the abdominal wall in 15% and other localisations in 30.5%" (http://www.springerlink.com/content/6rkr81md7dbyvp17/) A preview of the Manual of Clinical Oncology states: metastasis to the skin "typically involves the chest wall and scalp" (http://books.google.com/books?id=XrE3iO_1TxkC&pg=PA564&lpg=PA564&dq=breast+cancer+skin+metastasis&source=web&ots=OwETffxWK1&sig=xARa9IvIV3WBa1-fZX4wYpmoC3s&hl=en&sa=X&oi=book_result&resnum=5&ct=result) I believe the typical presentation of any metastasis is multiple lesions, more frequently than an isolated lesion. If I saw a lesion on my extremity, I'd be thinking MRSA before metastasis. Either way, you know the drill ... get it checked right away

Millions of women and some men have lived through it. Stage 2 is not as bad as it could be. Since it has not gone too far surgery will probably take care of it.
2 :
My mom has stage 2 breast cancer also. She was diagnosed in August of this year. She has had a lumpectomy, and 1 round of chemo. She still has 5 rounds of chemo left and then 5 weeks of radiation. She is in her 80's, but she's doing great. Her Dr. says this treatment should prevent the cancer from coming back, at least for 5 or 10 years. Good luck to your mom....and God Bless.
3 :
i have relative diagnosed with stage 2 and did mastectomy and receive chemotherapy and that was ten years ago and she is good till now.i feel you too close to your mom your love really help her.god bless your mom
4 :
My mother survived stage 3 breast cancer TWICE. She had them 20 years apart. I had stage 1 breast cancer in 2004 and so far have been doing ok. I went through chemotherapy and 36 radiation treatments. Your mom will probably have to take a medicine for 5 years after that to make the odds better that she doesn't get it back.
5 :
I am a 7 year survivor.
6 :
I am 2 time breast cancer survivor, 2005-1yr and 9 mo survivor Stage 2 Lumpectomy, 2007 -stage IV mastectomy and tumors found in the right lung , 8 mo survivor now . so there is hope for stage IV survivors still don't give up ok !!!
7 :
I am a 3+ year stage II veteran (aka survivor). My 50th birthday was a very special celebration of the milestone birthday and completion of chemo and radiation. With all the advances in chemotherapy treatments now, your mom could get through the holidays without much problems and you will soon all be able to look back at this phase in your lives as just another part of life. If you want someone to talk too, send me an email...
8 :
Approximately 2.3 million American women are living with a prior history of breast cancer.
9 :
Many many women are alive and well today having come through the treatments for stage two cancer. This is a tough time for the whole family but if you all pull together and support each other then things will work out fine My wife has come through treatments for stage two breast cancer and writes a blog about it - you can read about it below http://www.twinkletwinkles.com

I'm getting a tattoo with hope in the breast cancer awareness ribbon, on my left wrist, Is stretching an issue?

I am sure the place where you will be getting this done will have all of those answers for you. I commend you to take this action and support your aunt and others fighting this terrible disease. How is she doing? Usually breast cancer had a good survival rate, but the things the patient needs to experience is terrible.
2 :
I have the breast cancer ribbon with 'mum' through it tattooed on the outside of my left wrist. It hasn't stretched at all. I also have another tattoo on the inside of my right wrist. This also hasn't stretched. Although where you are getting the tattoo is an area of the body that moves a lot, you will be fine. The tattoo won't stretch there and become distorted. Also, tattoo's don't hurt so don't worry. Have fun!

how fast does grade 2 breast cancer spread

how fast does grade 2 breast cancer spread?
My mom was diagnosed with breast cancer. There was a slightly swollen lymph node in her armpit that tested positive as well. She has idc and dcis (both apparently in the same tumor). The tumor is 2 cm and grade 2. My question is what are the chances the cancer has metasized to her bones and organs?
Cancer - 2 Answers

1 :
The tumor grade determines its aggressiveness but it canĂ¢€™t be used to predict how far the cancer has spread. She will need a bone and PET scan for that.
2 :
It is possible that is has spread but it is likely still treatable. It also depends on the type of cancer she has.

The beginning cells are called "primary cells" and when cancer spreads it is called "metastasis" .Breast cancer usually spreads to the lungs or brain as the cancer grows.

Anyone else annoyed by the Breast Cancer Awareness month

Anyone else annoyed by the Breast Cancer Awareness month?
Breast cancer sucks, we all know that. But enough with the commercials, billboards, all that crappy pink merchandise that's probably made in China. Its been over done, and tired of hearing about it. WE GET IT LADIES!! Where's the publicity for prostate cancer? Do I see men and women athletes wearing Blue? All the commercials? How much money does it take to find a cure? Helloooo!?? Answer my question please, not some PMS fueled banter.

Okay first off, fuck you. Obviously your a man. Secondly, Although I've never personally had breast cancer(and I hope to the good lord I never do) It is a scary and terrible disease. Absolutley horrible. and It's like I want to rant about it, but just from your shitty little question I can tell you wouldn't get it and you wouldn't even try too. So, I hope you find a heart.
2 :
Wow, some human being you are. If you want prostate cancer to be more publicized why don't you go out and publicize? if you care that much.. good luck finding a wife..
3 :
I am a breast cancer survivor.... You are most likely going to hear from a quite a few of us here with your aggressive post when there are so many breast cancer survivors/patients and their family members in the world.... Breast cancer just happens to have many, many advocates - obviously more than any other cancer and that's why its so profound in advertisements, fundraising, etc.- so possibly you want to get more advocates for the type of cancer support YOU find most close to your heart and get that word out too. Good luck.
4 :
excuse me accutally my mum has got breast cancer and u need to stop sayin that beacuse it can really hurt people feellings
5 :
Well, you see, it's like this. The reason there is a lot more campaigning around breast cancer is that people concerned about breast cancer do something about it. The reason there isn't a comparable campaign around testicular or prostate cancer is that there are far more people whining on the internet than actually doing anything about it.
6 :
Yeah i hear ya with the everything pink to remind you of breast cancer awareness, although let me say Men can also get breast cancer. When women get breast cancer its a terrible experience so many thoughts racing throughout their minds constantly , what if's. im sure same for the low percentage of men that get it as well. i would rate breast cancer as a high need for donations to try and figure out a cure for it. Im not putting down any other needs out their nor am i saying that breast cancer is all we need cured. Aids, Hepetitis, etc we need just as much figured out , as much as im tired of seeing things like my toothbrush or soda beverages going pink for the cause, im happy that people remember there is a need for its help, now if people would only educate themselves after seeing the pink ribbon and know exactly why they need to donate that might make me a little less irritated by it. Also its amazing to see all the pink, i know its mostly by self interest that the advertisement has been out there, but lets face it, most people would not care about breast cancer if not many people had it , only self interested people by someone that has it or someone they know , or someone saying something to them like a family member saying its common in our family will donate. but others will donate from this advertising , good for the pink ribbon. now if we could only figure out something for other foundations to get more donations as well, i hear you on that one too.
7 :
Nope. As a Breast Cancer Patient, and for the many people I lost due to Breast Cancer, I am very happy with it. Thanks very much for asking

Anyone can get cancer, no one is immune. You are at a higher risk for breast cancer because your mother has it.
2 :
Hereditary breast cancer is rare; only 5 - 10% of all cases are hereditary. Breast cancer diagnosed after the age of 50 is even less likely to be hereditary Where it is hereditary, it's due to a rare inherited faulty gene. If your mother is the only one in your family to have had breast cancer, it is extremely unlikely to be hereditary. A sign that breast (or any) cancer MAY be hereditary is when several members of the same side of a family have had it, especially if some were diagnosed at a younger than usual age. If her breast cancer was due to one of the two rare faulty genes known to be responsible for hereditary breast cancer, BRCA1 or BRCA2, then you would have a 50% chance of having inherited the gene. Inheriting one of the faulty genes doesn't mean someone will definitely get cancer. As the daughter (I'm assuming you're female) of someone who's had breast cancer, you are likely to be treated as at increased risk simply as a precaution by starting routine mammograms earlier. You don't say how old you are. Breast cancer, whether hereditary or not is almost unheard of in under 25s and very rare (fewer than 0.1% of all those diagnosed) in under 30s
